Most teams would have given up the TD after that drive. Hell of an effort & heart from our defense.
I was screaming the same thing at my TV…Everyone in the chat was like "let them score" so we could still have time to drive. I guess that's why we're not the coach.
Once they got the first down inside the 10 before the 2-minute warning with State having all three timeouts, letting them score was off the table, barring a penalty that gave them a first down after we had used timeouts.Everyone in the chat was like "let them score" so we could still have time to drive. I guess that's why we're not the coach.
I never thought that. If we needed 7, ASU would likely have safety help up top. They were playing to keep us out of FG range & we burned them deep.Everyone in the chat was like "let them score" so we could still have time to drive. I guess that's why we're not the coach.
you need to watch the last play of our last possession, that will explain it to you. ****I still don't understand how we won that game
Exactly. They win that game if they punch it in there. We weren’t going to score a td if they knew that’s what we had to have.I never thought that. If we needed 7, ASU would likely have safety help up top. They were playing to keep us out of FG range & we burned them deep.
Shut up, post lessMatt Wyatt was saying we should let them score. How stupid. I’d be looking for his replacement
Biggest non con win at home since we beat Texas in the nut cutting game. It's wild we gave up that drive for like 9 minutes but held em to 3 points, then strike like lightning in under a minute to snag one of our biggest home wins in quite a long time.
I'll admit, I was convinced we had somehow managed to lose that game towards the end of their last drive. I could just see the script us losing to a last second FG. The real script was much better.
I felt the same way…. Glad to be wrong again! It's wild we gave up that drive for like 9 minutes but held em to 3 points, then strike like lightning in under a minute to snag one of our biggest home wins in quite a long time.

Nut cutting was the next yearBiggest non con win at home since we beat Texas in the nut cutting game.
I thought the nut cutting was in JWS's 1st year. That was in '91.Not 91?
Look at the statsI still don't understand how we won that game
Absolutely. This was the most non-MSU way we have ever won a game.
True. It’s the way I’ve watched other teams win countless times. Finally got to see mine do it once before I die. This was the most non-MSU way we have ever won a game.
Nut cutting was in ‘91. The year we beat them at home.Nut cutting was the next year

I think what happens is that State Stated harder than StateThis was the most non-MSU way we have ever won a game.
Yeah, I heard tbat in the stands at DWS too.Everyone in the chat was like "let them score" so we could still have time to drive. I guess that's why we're not the coach.
This is definitely a problem that we didn’t have last year.Everyone in the chat was like "let them score" so we could still have time to drive.
I honestly think Dillingham outsmarted himself there. Went way too predictable on play calls & played right into our hands. And he should have gone for it in 4th down. Worst case, you give us the ball at the 1. You might even get a safety. And we still have to drive 60 yards for a fg to win. And if it goes to OT, the way that last drive went I like my chances if I’m him.Exactly. They win that game if they punch it in there. We weren’t going to score a td if they knew that’s what we had to have.
The official almost made a great tackle on that TD tho. And since they are "part of the field", it would have counted and we'd have lost.you need to watch the last play of our last possession, that will explain it to you. ****
someone posted a video on here with a view from the endzone, he wasn't as close to the official as it looked from the other angle. but yeah, as it was happening in real time i was screaming for the official to get out of the way.The official almost made a great tackle on that TD tho. watching live, I was thinking this. Then I thought "no way our player would run into the ref he's looking at".... then I thought "this is how we actually lose"someone posted a video on here with a view from the endzone, he wasn't as close to the official as it looked from the other angle. but yeah, as it was happening in real time i was screaming for the official to get out of the way.
Would have been the most Mississippi State thing ever. Receiver tackles himself running into the ref. Then we mismanage the clock & never get the ball snapped for a game tying FG.watching live, I was thinking this. Then I thought "no way our player would run into the ref he's looking at".... then I thought "this is how we actually lose"
Yes - I'm that much of a pessimist with State football
Agree. But I also think they made a big mistake going aggressive on defense. Our offense was explosive plays last night. If they just continue playing zone, then worst case is we have to make a long FG to force OT, and they were in much better position to win in OT.I honestly think Dillingham outsmarted himself there. Went way too predictable on play calls & played right into our hands. And he should have gone for it in 4th down. Worst case, you give us the ball at the 1. You might even get a safety. That was so long ago, I was there as a student at StateBiggest non con win at home since we beat Texas 13-6 in 1991
