Sounds like our offense is total schitt again. Sounds like the defense dominated the scrimmage causing turnovers and negative plays. OR, is the defense awesome ?? Top ten type ? Nah...who am I kidding ?

Way too early to predict and know at this point about the team overall. Defense is always better than the offense in first few practices. Plus, many second teamers and even third teamers get a chance. I'm not surprised.

I like it. The D line has to play light years better this season for us to have a shot at winning four games.

No matter what the report was from scrimmage, people here would put a negative spin.

Defense dominates? The O-Line must suck.
Offense dominates? Here we go again with the D.

After going 2-10 with historically bad defense, I think it's good to hear about turnovers and sacks. I have confidence that Lebby will put together a good offense in year 2.

Scrimmages are sister kissing sessions.

We will know more after the USM game. Until then we will hear what they want us to hear.

If Lebby and Loadholt can't figure out the OL (who to play, and where) that is the end of the road with this staff.

Both those guys played OL, one of them on the professional level.

Being substandard on that position group would be unforgivable, IMO.

See my post from a couple weeks ago. Leb said the offensive line needs to “come together in a hurry.” Thats all you need to know
The oline looked atrocious in the Spring game. Afterwards, the staff went out and got 3 or 4 more guys from the portal. Basically half of the starting olinemen weren't here in the Spring. I'm expecting them to look pretty sloppy the first part of the season. It's one of the big reasons I don't give us much of a shot at beating Arizona State.

There is no report from practice or scrimmages that is any way going to get my hopes up about either side of the ball. What I see from the USM game will determine how busy my Saturdays will be moving forward

If we know anything after the USM game it will be very bad news. We'll know more after the Arizona St. game.

Exactly. Best case, this OL will come together by the end of September. Our early portal OL recruiting was a disaster.

Lebby can’t figure out the OL and can’t figure out the defense. Running it back with a QB who we all know can’t stay healthy.

It’s almost like we hired a guy who has no idea what he’s doing.

I’m bookmarking this one. Let me guess, you think we should hire Gruden?
Ha no, I don’t think I’d advocate for Gruden. I think I’d prefer someone who’s been a college head coach in the NIL era.

Please remember to bring your bookmark up regardless of what our record is at the end of the year. I truly hope you get the opportunity to make me look like an idiot.

I started to laugh, then realized this might actually be a decent option for both us and him if/when we're looking for a new coach.
Exactly. aTm has already paid his salary and then some. State could probably get him for next to nothing even though you'd probably want to keep it in the Mike Leach price range to not seem offensive, but I could see something like that playing out for sure.

And this is about as good a job as he's likely to get these days.

The only problem with this is that he's a proven terrible coach.

Some will say "yeah, but boy can he recruit!!!" Can he? He's been at LSU, FSU, and A&M, where money and buying players are no objects. I have my doubts as to whether that will translate at Bracky U.

He's a proven mediocre coach. Which would be a big upgrade over what we have now.

Would very much be on brand for MState. Cycling between young, untested assistant and old retread looking for a golden parachute.

A very wise man once said: "You can't make chicken salad out of chicken do-do." OR "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear." I'm afraid we may have a bunch of sow's ears that are brown and don't smell good . . . . .

I’d be scared to death of a guy who can’t win with a roster full of four and five star players and a brinks truck. He’d probably go 0-12 here
