How come no one is mentioning Petrino to Miami?

He's a guy that likes changes, he's losing his 1st round NFL QB, he recruited Miami well when at Louisville.

Just surprised they don't try to lure him or some other higher profile coaches. I'm not hearing much big names that they are even targeting sans Gruden.

Tuberville being the best in my opinion. Tuberville can definitely recruit when he wants to and feels up to it, and he molds his offense to his talent. And he's a Miami guy. And he's not one for the media and fans.

Petrino? Well, I can't think of a reason why he wouldn't be a candidate, unless he just likes Arkansas. Which is laughable.
They need a guy that fits their culture. Both of those guys seem like they could.

He's a great defensive coach and could bring in a co-ordinator to run the offense they like to run at the U - balanced, pro-style.

With as many athletes as there are available to Miami in recruiting, Sumlin's spread system would be perfect for them. Get a bunch of athletes on the field and score a ton of points.

I know they had a rough year this year, but when you lose a guy like Keenum, then lose his backup, it's kind of tough to win games. He has been under some pretty good coaches like Bob Stoops. Young fiery guy like that would work well in Miami.

I was wondering that myself. Because you know he would leave Arkansas if the money was right. Which looks to be the reason.........Petrino is making $2.5 million plus incentive bonuses. Some estimate he will earn $3 million this year. So, Miami is going to have to guarantee him $3 million a year. But he does need to take into account that Arkansas will turn up the heat in a minute if they have just ONE losing season. So will Miami but where is he most likely to have a losing season? Ark in the SEC? Or Miami in the basketball conference? Not to mention, he is really expanding Arkansas recruiting base. I imagine he would easily be able to recruit nationally at Miami. But, with the lack ofname canidates, maybe thejob isn't at that attractive after all for some coachesor again.....the money isn't there.

The big concern with him would be whether or not he still has the energy or drive he had when he was younger. You don't want to end up with someone who is too comfortable and not quite as driven as they were at the early part of their career.

I do think Tuberville would do well at Miami. It wouldn't be his normal situation though. In his head coaching career, he's made his name in many cases by out-evaluating his competition, finding talent others miss and turning it into something good.

Miami is a spot where you can create a cherry-picking program if you know how to go about it correctly. Tuberville has never been in that type of job.

I also think that most schools would be pretty hesitant to hire him with his track record of leaving so many jobs so soon.

Bobby's not going anywhere. He just signed an extension with a 6 mil buyout. He will be with the Hogs for a while.

I know for a fact his agent has contacted Miami to let them know he is interested. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned. He could care-a-less about leaving Tech out to dry.

I didn't see him this year, but his last year at Auburn he just looked old, tired and worn down. And I do know his 1st season at Texas Tech was their worst in several years. Not surprising to me that Miami's not interested.

And you are right about evaluating talent. Tubbs is known as the best evaluater of talent in the college ranks and he is well-respected in that area, but they also say he is the most ruthless out-for-himself coach there is. I agree most coaches are probably like this, but he takes it to a new level.

losing season at Aubarn followed by a 7-5 season at TT in a weak Big 12....

Tubby is at the tail end of his career

He would probably take the job, but I'd imagine he's down Miami's pecking order a good bit.

Tubby isn't afraid to trim the fat on his coaching staff, and he's done it multiple times, even with guys he worked with forever.

The one mistake he made at Auburn was letting Lowder force him to hire a spread OC, and then not really buying into it. He either needed to stick up for what he was doing and not make a change, or he needed to clean house and commit 100% to a new offense. He went hybrid and never really committed to it, nor did he buy into it, and it ended up costing him his job.

Arkansas fans = the SNL "Da Bears" skit with Chris Farley, George Wendt and others.

In Arkansas, Ryan Mallet has kicked Chuck Norris' *** on a number of occassions.
