MegaBus. You and I are fiscal conservatives.

No shocker there, housewife. I keed, I keed. Good deal if you can get it. My youngins are PreK and K this year so I don't have that option.
You know, I've got enough of an identity crisis brewing. Between playdough, Elmo, and housework....I'm a couple tantrums from being huddled in the corner of the basement in lipstick and my old football helmet rocking back and forth, twitching and singing Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm on a discussion board to help feel sane.....so......yeah.....

I've been there. After a long weekend alone with the kids, I'm about the same. I really didn't know if my marriage would survive the 2.5 years she took off of work. It was our lowest point. She lost her identity but thankfully we assessed the situation and decided it was best for her to go back and be a strong professional female role model for our kids. Honestly, don't take this as me telling you what to do or how to raise your kids. Our youngest was 1.5 yrs old when she started daycare (I use that term loosely). We put them both in one of those early child development centers, The Young School. The results were noticeable. I understand all children develop differently, but by comparison, my kids were and continue to surpass the stages of where their cousins and some of our friends kids are. My oldest in Kindergarten is reading at a 2nd grade level and I have her doing addition and subtraction into the 100s. The 4 year old is reading and starting to do basic addition and subtraction. Their logic process is unbelievable. I know all parents think their kids are the best at everything, but I'm shocked at how well they do. We have them in a Private Catholic STEM school now and they love it.

That's great! The social component was needed in my 3 yr old last year, we started her in preschool and it's made a big change. My 18 mo old is easier, so I'm better than I thought I'd be. I think daycare is both good and bad, and home is both good and bad. We are in the position to have me stay home, so it's hard to argue against. It's tough for sure. Wife wants another, not sure I can handle another. I'm dying to get back to teaching and affecting change. But family first, I'm lucky.

My 4 year old is adding and subtracting very little, and we are on the verge of reading. All kids develop differently, but it's powerful seeing them grow isn't it?

Yes it is. One of the coolest things was when we were flying home from SC after Christmas. My wife wrote out a bunch of math problems for the 5 year old to do. She completed them pretty quick and then wrote out about 10 more on her own and then did those. She loves math, but, she comes by it honestly. The little one is more of what I term our "feral child"

My father was a banker and a math wiz. Some peoples mind just work that way. Could be her gift, and it's a vital field for the future too.

Sounds like you are doing a great job.....I wish more people would care about their children like you do. My son has a mind for numbers. You can spit percentage, add, subtract and divisional numbers at him and he will give the answer in a few seconds and I'm not talking about 10+10=20. He started doing it a a very young age. I don't know of any family members on both sides that have that gift.

A lot of people have a lot of f'd up opinions on a lot of subjects and nothing pisses me off more than something you described. You deserve a big thumbs up.
