How easy was the site moving from Yuku to Vbulletin?...

pain in the *** or rather painless? I think it went pretty well.

Genespage got a site redesign today and they have an abundance of problems. I realize Fox updated their whole network but I thought the sixpack move went pretty well.

Rumor has it that they lost their ban database in the move. Those of you that were banned over there may be able to post now. Could see that being pretty hilarious for a few weeks anyway...

Can't confirm since I've never signed up there...

I think it went very well! I've very quickly adapted to the new board and have had no problems at all. I honestly can't imagine a better move from a technical and useability standpoint. Moving over the usernames and post counts was huge. Very, very good work!

Easy, then I got the new Iphone and forgot my password was a certain trailblazing grass eating high school football coach.

It was seamless. Just click a link, take about 5 minutes to get used to the new format, and that's it. Can't get any easier than that.

I only miss the new post icons

It can be hard to tell what's new in the longer threads. And I don't know how to look up IP to profile, etc. feel free to email me that tomorrow...

and I lost 4,000 posts, but that's ok because I was at 9997 or something, and that's costanza territory....

It actually counted the # of posts that were physically on the board when it ran the post count job. So it's basically all your posts from 2008 and on b/c thats the latest we have posts (when we moved from ezboard to Yuku). Ezboard would keep the last 625 topics - yuku was infinite.

Thought it went great. I'm sure it was a ton of work for you. Much appreciated.

I really like it now.

When I hit the page my phone told me I had a private message waiting on me. Don't know if this a DS addition to make sure he gets a 62" or a good upgrade, either way I like it.

Mine's smooth enough when scrolling, but

sometimes when I hover over a post to read the first few words they "blink" on and off. But it doesn't happen all the time, which is a bit strange.

And when I hit the reply button, I'll get either the quick reply or the one that requires a subject line. Seems to be at random.

For quick reply, the page needs to fully load. If it hasn't, then you go to the regular reply.

Lost 4 years of membership and a couple hundred post but generally smooth transition. Still learning my way around the features also I have to change to compatibility mode on IE at the office to load current threads otherwise the board is locked on 8/23/2012 post.

I moderate another forum (NOT Gene's) that had to move to the fox sports next site.

Quite simply, not very impressive yet. I'm anxious to get the kinks worked out, but I don't like it right now one bit.

I'll be honest- I'm not big on the internet lingo.

Threaded I guess is like this site (I assume this is what you are referring to; I've never been involved in site development, I just give my thoughts when asked, which hasn't been any since we joined with Scout a few years ago). To me, that's a little confusing. I'd rather read in chronological order, and if you want to reply specifically to a post you should quote that post. Which is why I rarely ever hit the reply button like everyone wants. I just don't see the point when you're already replying to the general topic.

I guess ours is more flat, and always has been. We just switched to the new site yesterday I believe (I've been busy this past week) and I haven't really played around on it. For right now, I'm not in love with it. The old site was a lot easier, and the one before that was super easy. We switched to Scout a few years ago, hence us having to switch to the Fox Sports Next now.

We will manage with it, but it's nothing I think any of us would have chosen.

YOu know you can change to the flat view here. It's either/or which is the beauty of using this and one of the reasons we switched. It's up to the user.

Well, I did, but sometimes the posts still show up out of order. I guess that's when you reply to that particular post instead of replying to the thread. On the site I am used to, you have to quote the particular post you are replying to, and either way it all stays in chronological order. I like that better because that's what I'm used to. Nothing wrong with it, just my preference.

What I don't like about the new site (ours) is that we all switched at once. I would have rather have gotten in sooner and played around before the other users got in. I don't think all of the kinks are worked out yet. I don't see that they've even set up the moderating capabilities yet. So we're working on that. It's also pretty screwy when loading. It was hard for a lot of people to even log in. I logged in last night and it let me, but I looked up a few minutes later and it had me logged in as someone else- I don't even know how that's possible.

All in all, I think for this to work they needed to do it like you guys did and have it ready before the site moved. I'm just not pleased right now, and can't see the benefits yet. It will just take time, I'm sure. But, from what I'm reading, I think there are a lot of sites under that format that aren't pleased either.

You can have it that way. Once inside a post, change your display to "Linear". Everything will be chronological.

Ah, thanks. Again, I've never been the techy person, just know enough to get by- I let the other moderators deal with that stuff.

Appreciate it. Vbulletin is one of the better forum software packages from what I hear. I wish we could have something like this, or the first one we had- not sure what that one was called, but it was great. When we merged, we had to change.
