Miami's DL coach is on a flight out of Jackson this am. I assume he was here to see Harris, who is going to Miami this weekend (according to scout).

He's obviously got some talent, we think he needs to move inside and he is

fighting that move, wants to be a defensive end, sound familiar?

He's a dandy dozen and the 15th best player in MS per247. I want him in maroon. He really wants to be a DE. He's 6'4 270 right now. One has to think he'll be 300 in a year or 2 in college.

Yep, very few guys get to college and drop weight. He is already on the high side of what an effect DE needs to be right now.

This seems like an easy issue to address.

If he's that good, we should just tell him he can play DE. If he doesn't maintain the speed to get PT at DE, most players would decide they'd rather be on the field at DT than on the sideline at DE. If he's good enough to get PT at DE, then we he lets us upgrade at DE. Even if he'd help us more at DT, that seems like it's worth a schollie. Unless we are just packed at DE going forward or we just think he is a marginal prospect at either position, or we really think he'd transfer to smaller school before he played DT, seems like a small problem.

We need him to be a "We Guy" and not a "Me Guy", I hope he gets it and

joins us.

I have no problem with a guy deciding he wants to play a certain position and waiting for a school that will let him. Now if he's already in school and won't help team by moving that's different.

Didnt Phillip rivers decide to go to nc state bc they were only school that would let em play qb? Think he made right decision...

Sound position, can't disagree, but if you are totally a "we guy" you don't

worry too much about that.

Grant Harris is pretty good. I saw him play in person this past year. He has good size, speed and motor. To me in the couple of games I observed, I thought he was better than Breland Speaks. I put him right below Gerri Greene on athleticism, taking into account his added size. I do agree that under a college nutrition and weight training program that he'll be 290 or 300 in a hurry, which will probably indicate that his long-term potential is inside. Just look at Fletcher Cox. He was about the same size, ran a 4.5 40-yd dash in HS, and made the move inside shortly after putting on the additional muscle.

Ehh...who is 'we'. He isn't on a team yet, so I'd say 'we' is his family, in which case he should be thinking about what gives him the best chance to get to the next level and also gives him a viable back up plan if he doesn't make it. If he really doesn't have any intentions of playing pro, then he should just focus on what allows him to get a valuable college degree and to have fun while getting it.

Of course based solely on his size, it would seem playing DT for an SEC school fits the bill if he has any desire to play pro football.

We must have attended different games. Speaks is far better than Harris. Not even close IMO.

I would love to have Harris, but would gladly take Cory Thomas or Taylor Stallworth over him. He should go ahead and jump on board or else that position could get even deeper over the next few weeks for us.

Agree with ya Cadaver.
Harris is a project. Could end up being a three year starter after a redshirt year. He is nowhere close to Speaks or to where Fletcher Cox was coming out of high school.
Hope we sign Cory Thomas. Harris is our Plan B.

"We Guy" is a guy that thinks of the needs of his team before he thinks of his

own needs. A collection of these type guys can whip a collection of "Me Guys" 99.999% of the time.
