How is the Running Back rotation going to play out this season?

I like Perkins, but his size concerns me for an every-down guy. I saw him get stuffed trying to go up the middle too many times last year. I haven't seen any of the new guys play, but I like the looks of Griffin, and I've heard good things about Robinson.

from the looks of the spring game we should run Griffin like we did Dixon and sprinkle in Perkins. This of course hinges on if Russell can spread the ball around to open up the running lanes.

I think we use them as situation demands. On passing downs, Perkins should be in. I think he is the better receiver. Nick Griffin should be an every down back, but Perk is a good passing situation option. Both Josh Robinson and Derrick Milton are both excellent backups.

and I think we can all agree that if he beats out Nick Griffin by the end of the year, we'll be in a great shape cause Griffin, by all accounts, should be pretty damn good.

Our team is becoming amazingly deep. Thanks Mullen.

we will start next year I predict that Perkins will get most of the snaps. He knows the pass protections and does a good job catching passes out of the backfield. He is also underrated as a ball carrier. I think Griffin then gets most of the backup snaps. Robinson and Milton will be good but expereince should win out.

Perkins is the most experienced. Griffin is the biggest, strongest, and has a season under his belt. Robinson is the best all around back but hasn't played a snap yet. We will see. I would like to see Robinson be used the most because he should be able to do everything well, but it probably isn't his time quite yet.

Should he struggle, Griffin's carries will increase; should Griffin struggle, Robinson's carries will increase.

I think we'll see a pretty even split of Perkins & Griffin to start. Robinson & Milton will be battling for playing time early. But as the season goes on I think it just depends on how everyone performs. Mullen is going to go with whoever he can trust and feels most comfortable with.

One thing is for certain - if Perkins wants to get more snaps than he did last year, he's going to have bust some big plays. With backs like Griffin and Robinson on the depth chart, he will quickly get shuffled to just special teams duty if he can't average more than 5 yards per touch.

Perkins - trustworthy and proven, but not an every down back
Griffin - could be the workhorse, knee should be okay
Milton - fumbled too much in the spring, won't play if he turns it over
Robinson - Coach34 said in spring he is better as true freshman than Ballard as senior

Consider these two factors:
1. The top 3 RBs appear to have similar talent levels.
2. We're going to throw the ball a good bit this year.

Therefore, I imagine the RB who posses the best combination of pass blocking/blitz pickup skills will play the most.

Perkins is solid and will make some big plays- but sometimes we will need a bigger body to help protect Russell- thats just how it is. Perk will play more early than the other 2, but as they get more game reps- it will be a true committee back there.

All 3 can play and will deserve reps. Good problem to have

Perkins will get most of the touches this year. Griffin isn't mentally over his knee according to a guy on the team. I think griffin will get touches early and slowly fade into the background as the season goes on. Robinson will be the backup. And call me crazy, but after watching Milton for a couple of practices, I would like to see him on short downs.
