Nah. Game ended too late for the Nashville copy writers to think of something clever to tell the imps at the C-L to write.

CL headline tomorrow

Despite poor showing by bulldogs, who were obviously outperformed by tigers, state wins a baseball game due to baseball rules crediting runs as points scored instead of walks by your own pitcher as a point scored. Credit to the rebels for not losing a game tonight.

Mississippi State squanders 2-0 after the 1st when Tigers put up unanswered runs in 3 of the first 5 innings. State stays alive and goes ahead in 7th thanks to a perfectly thrown pitch that took a wild bounce off of a divot left in the batters box earlier in the game by Tanner Allen. Missouri players said they lost focus in the latter innings because they were looking ahead to a possible spot in Hoover at the SEC Tournament paired up against Ole Miss. With Ole Miss pitching being suspect, Missouri players knew they had a shot at knocking off the Rebels in Hoover and forgot about the current game in the pivotal 7th inning. Even though Landon Sims came in and pitched as the closer, the Save credit went to Plumlee from Ole Miss. Plumlee is the projected Friday night starter for the remainder of the season. Coach Bianco has asked Plumlee to also pitch on Saturdays and Sundays, but Plumlee is concerned he could injure his piano playing fingers. Back to the game, State refused to bat in the bottom of the 9th and the game was called. State beat writers were overheard planning a pot luck dinner for Sunday, should the Bulldogs sweep.

MSU's Starting Pitching Is In Shambles.

Friday night starter gets smacked around as Mizzou jumps out early, but sloppy play allowed MSU back in it late.
