What the 17 is the point of firing a first year HC on his way to 5-7, only to give his replacement 3 years just to get to 6-6? In the portal era, and without any other context, that shít is nonsensical.

Exactly and we still have numbnuts claiming Lebby can’t win because of Mike Leach who has been deceased for three years. Coaches are getting fired after 1-2 years now because rosters are completely flipped out of the portal in one year. There is no justification for giving Lebby another year. This isn’t 1975

some truth to this. you're not building rosters anymore through high school recruiting and having to develop them for two or three years before they produce for the new coach. i don't see any upward trajectory in what lebby is building. he looks lost on the sidelines. very similar to the look Arnett had when Brad Peterson was following him around on the sidelines whispering in his ear what to do.
Maybe we'll get lucky and Lebby will drive thru a Wendy's naked.

I wanted Croom to win a national championship, but at some point you have to be realistic and and accept that no amount of hope can overcome incompetence.
I imagine most of us want ZERO more years of this, but if you go back to the preseason comments and predictions, most here felt that if we went 5-7 or better, he'd get a third year without a doubt. I remember a lot of comments saying one conference win would be great. And there were quite a few here that said we'd go 4-8 with no conference wins. Well, look where we are. We are 5-7 and have one conference win. Not likely we beat Ole Miss, but where we are, we have shown improvement. 2-10 last year. 5-7 likely this year. I even said if we happen to go 6-6 I would be ecstatic. I think it's more of "how we lost some close games" is what's put a burr in people's saddles. People remember the questionable play calls more than they do our record. They say we should have been this or should have been that if we had done this or that. Well, I pretty much only look at results. We are what our record says we are. We've shown improvement over last year. Expecting us to go 10-2 after going 2-10 is unrealistic as heck. Might as well chill. Selmon is not going to fire a coach after 2 years when he's shown improvement.

We are getting one more year (or most of one more year) regardless. He only needed to demonstrate the appearance of improvement. He did that.
He’s getting another year because he’s getting another year. Not that he necessarily deserves it but Selmon isn’t firing his boy this year.
After witnessing last night’s display, I am convinced that Lebby is trotting down one of two paths.
1) He is intentionally sand bagging with inexplicable play calling so that he has some modicum of a chance at maintaining an upward trajectory next season
2) He truly is one of the worst offensive coaches in America
