How many of you people really expected us to win?

I read the board as if some of you think we should have beaten Alabama I'm all for being optimistic going into the game, but did I really believe we had really good shot at beating them...no. Hell this was a mirror image of the UF game because we have no passing game, in large part due to Lee, and their D can stack the box thus leaving us w/ having slim to no chance of moving the ball much less scoring. You take away the broken assignment that led to Julio geting the TD, and Ingram's long TD run the score is much closer it's pretty much the same as the UF game.

such as Bama , and Fla.,... yeah we played Fla. closer, but their offense had a really bad day.
Did I really think we would win... not likely but you have got to have some hope.
I do think we have brighter days comming...we have got to get a few better players...
are we likely to win the BCS Championship, No.

That's how I saw it and that's how I thought it was go going into the game. But I just hoped 1) we wouldn't get screwed by the refs (and we did get screwed by the refs), and that 2) we have a chance to make a play or two at the end to win the game.

I called for an upset. Didn't happen. Mostly, the refs didn't allow us a chance for an upset bid by disallowing Bumphis' TD and the trapped INT later.

And some of it is our fault. We had to make some big plays when big plays were there to be made. 1) on the 1st play of the game, Lee has to hit Wilder when it is wide freaking open for a TD. But he doesn't have the strength to get the ball there I guess. And 2) on those endzone passes to Wilder - he needs to use his size and leaping ability to ATTACK the football high in the air and not just run out his route expecting the DB to not make a play and having the ball hit him in the chest.

We just didn't quite do the things you gotta do to take down a juggernaut like Alabama. The breaks didn't go our way. If Lee makes a good throw on the first play, if Wilder or Heavens is able to come down with one of those balls, and if Bumphis's foot lands two centimeters to the right, it would've made a huge difference with the momentum in tonight's game.

Nearly forty percent of Bama's total offense came on three plays, all of which were touchdowns. When the difference in the game is three or four plays on either side of the ball, it says a lot considering what we were up against. Besides, we gained more yardage on them than Ole Miss and Virginia Tech did. Moral victories don't tear down goal posts or secure bowl bids, but the game was closer than the final score indicated.

If we can at least improve enough to be a little more competitive with Bama next year, we should be able to give everyone else on our schedule a good fight. Close, but not there yet.

The game played out very similar to Florida. We couldn't pass, we had to rely on Dixon, but the difference was when Bama got in the redzone, we couldn't create turnovers. Without the picks 6's by Banks, the score of the Florida game is almost the exact same as the final from the Bama game. We are able to hang with the middle teams in the SEC, but our offense is still a ways away from being able to hang with the Florida's and the Bama's of the world.

No, I didn't expect us to win. But I didn't expect us to completely quit in the fourth quarter, either. I would have been OK with 17-3. At that point, my reaction is "Well, we lost to the best team in the country." As it stands, my reaction was nothing short of embarassment.

Those two calls had nothing to do with the outcome of the game. You sound like Rebel Bruiser. Let's pretend the "trapped INT" didn't happen and the Bumphis TD was allowed. We still lose 24-10.

Without getting screwed it is 17-10 in the 4th quarter. The complexion of the game is completely different. As I said, we probably still lose. But at lease we have a puncher's chance of winning - one big play or some lucky break away from having a chance to win.
