doesn't roadworthy mean you have to get plates, and insurance, and register it and ****? That sounds like a lot of effort.

Just have the IRS eliminate this loophole, and problem solved.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">At the end of the year claim it on your taxes. You might audit and you might not. Keep your receipt just in case you do. Remember you can claim anything on your taxes but if the tax man come a knocking be prepare to explain and show proof.

I know a guy who claimed miles on his four wheeler checking fence lines for years. Finally one year he got audit and owned tons of money. Hell if he have never got audit, everything would have been great but rest assured this year as money hungry as the IRS is they are going to check every new credit.

Star Electric Vehicles.

they claim to be assured by the IRS that some of their carts qualify for the tax credit. including this one:

like you, i've been looking. i just called golf cars of ms (in ridgeland) and he said he doesn't sell anything that qualifies and doesn't know anyone that does, since the cars have to go at least 25 mph. this dealer in SC, though, appears to guarantee that his qualify. here's the catch - it's a tax credit, so you will have to pay the cash up front for full price. your tax refund will include the credit, so you get the money back next year. let me know if you (or anyone else) find out anything. i'll do the same...

ETA: i think the guy in ridgeland was saying the car had to be street legal, which in mississippi, requires that it can go at least 25 mph. maybe SC doesn't require that? or maybe these cars can go that fast? i don't know.

played earlier this year with a guy who had a cart like that. very smooth ride, good speed, smooth acceleration too. Seating room for 4 people if you wanted to bring the kids.

they don't carry lsv's and won't until ez-go comes out with one in q1 of 2010 is what the guy said at ben nelson. also, salesman said that cities and counties in MS haven't even set up jurisidictions and zoning yet. so looks like, if you want one, need to drive to sc or somewhere beside la or ms. i called a club car dealership in baton rouge, that is how i found out they don't carry them in la. retail for the club car one here looks to fetch for $11,000. haven't found out what the star lsv's go for. fyi...it is a federal credit, so wouldn't be an issue if your state doesn't allow them on the road.

As of a couple of weeks ago, Bad Boy Buggies didn't qualify. That's why my dad went with the Ruff & Tuff. I don't think the Bad Boys had the necessary features to be street legal. But I know that they were scrambling trying to get qualified before the program ended, so they may be now.

I think you can get a credit with these, but the seller doesn't know how to explain it.

Bus Supply Co in McComb sells the Ruff & Tuff carts and they can tell you about the tax credit. Their number is 800.748.8681.
