BIS degree from 01.

Was a java code monkey for about 10 years before moving up to management. Now I only code when it hits the fan and I don't want to wait on a code monkey to find and fix the problem.

Devops is going to be the place to be

High demand stuff already and only getting bigger. Ansible, puppet, chef n ****. Transitioning from traditional ops to a devops ci/cd model is a ***** for a lot of companies though, which is why there will be very high demand for a while. And good money already.

Any network engineers on here? And by network engineers I don't mean in title only. I.E. "network engineer" who works on routers/switches/firewalls/VOIP. Not one who re-images PC's and fixes paper jams.

I actually like sharing my ideas and not memorizing all syntax in favor of learning internals better, so I'm a SQL Server guy. Databases should be easy for end users; Oracle is not this.

Director over a Development Team and I program most of our SQL because I like to and they can't stop me. Actually at work right now working on some tricky *** logic that is pissing me off.

Started my own firm in 2010. Still do too much actual IT work though. Hoping to be just managing business in the next year or so.

Working in development or databases sounds like one boring freaking job. Kudos to you guys that can sit there all day and be interested in that type stuff.

Own a Managed Services Provider company. We contract with smb's, churches, libraries, etc... for server/pc/network administration, and contract and ala carte' with gov't and larger companies to do their advanced needs that are outside the skill level of their in-house IT team.
