You know we will lose between 1 to 3 ,I looked for one out of Thomas,Sword or Ware. An one from Bloodman ,Lewis or Steele.Really I hope not any but this is college basketball and there were over 300 in Div.1 last year.If you think just because we got a new coach it will not happen, think again.

Where are Steele and Lewis going to go?

considering they have 1 and 0 (with medical redshirt pending) years of eligibility left respectively.

Steele? Nope- he will be a Sr
Lewis? Nope- he will be a Sr
Borchert? Nope- he will be a Sr
the Freshmen? Doubtful, they have been trouble-free this year
Bloodman? He will have to drop a level if he does
Johnson? Maybe, no idea where he stands
I doubt either of the blown ACL's transfer

Anybody besides Bloodman or Johnson would be surprising- and there have been no rumors as of yet

My guess is zero

This is not an out-of-control Stansbury team. These players knew going into the season that it was going to be hard work that wins games for us, if they wanted to transfer I would think that they would have done it already

I think you've got the cart well in front of the horse on this one. I would be totally shocked if someone transferred. Steele is a role player... Anywhere he went except down a level, he'd be on the bench, likely. Lewis can't even move laterally. The freshmen have no incentive to go anywhere to sit out a year to try to earn playing time elsewhere. Gray has no experience to be able to transfer, and he has an opportunity to be a strong leader for us next year. Unless Ray has royally pissed off someone, everyone is staying put.

I have no idea if we have found better talent to bring in and would want a couple to leave. I would not be opposed to this at all. Seniors arent going to transfer- they cant unless they go to Delta St or some ****.

I dont think any Freshmen will leave simply because they have not been any trouble all year and play their *** off. Could one leave? Absolutely, but there havent been any rumors as of yet. The ACL guys arent going anywhere yet because they have yet to even get going. Those guys know the situation and should become leaders.

I felt pretty confident that either Applewhite or Bloodman or both would be asked to transfer. Ray praised Applewhite in his last interview though which shocked me, but it also leaves it open for him to play 2nd or 3rd PG behind Davis and Ready and Bloodman to leave or he's talking him up for some other school.

We're solid at the 2 and I don't think anyone will play behind Davis and Ready (Ray has hinted several times he's an immediate PT guy).

Ray keeps mentioning us GETTING a transfer. Does anyone know who he keeps talking about? And wouldn't that mean we'd have to free up a spot?

I agree with Coach. Only possibilities to transfer will be Roquez and Bloodman.

Bloodman will see his minutes dwindle with Davis and Ready coming in. I actually think he could end up being a decent point guard but he will be riding the pine because the other 2 guys should put him there.

And I posted the other day that it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Johnson transferred and opened up another slot for a big man. It pissed a few off becaise i was told that he is the most improved player on the team. Well yes he is because other than Wendell and Jalen he'd have to be. He isn't sec caliber talent and that's saying something this season. He is a very good athlete but just not a very good basketball player. He lit up the nobodies this year with his athleticism but since sec play has started he has been abysmal. Other than Baxter Price, he scares me the most when he touches the ball.

We need to upgrade the talent on the team. If there is a freshman or a juco guy out there that does this then we need to see a transfer or 2.

I don't see Thomas, Sword, or Ware going anywhere. They know that of the cards play right for them, their junior year could be a good one. Work hard get the experience and bust *** as a junior and senior.

Jesus, I knew that we had struggled lately but our average margin of loss for the season is nearly 20 pts when looking at the 19 losses. I will continue to withhold judgment until next season, but it is pretty hard for me to imagine that a PG and some average depth is going to turn this cluster around.

Johnson has great upside. Physically he's very gifted and he actually has one of the best shooting mechanics/touch on the team although that's not saying much. I'd like Johnson to stay. Bloodman can go. The leading scorer in Juco this year, Bobby Hunter, looks to be getting ignored by everyone. He's 5'10 but he jumps out the roof. He's averaging 25.5 points a game.

Why are you associating Applewhite with the PGs? As far as I've seen and heard, he is a true 2-guard that can play the 3-guard spot as well. From my point of view, (assuming health is not an issue again next season), each position looks something like this:

1 - Davis/Ready, Bloodman, -- which means Sword won't have to play out of position here (also, if Bloodman somehow does transfer, we still should easily manage with Davis and Ready here)
2 - Steele, Sword, Applewhite
3 - Sword/Thomas, Applewhite ?, Daniels/DeRunnya
4 - Borchert, Roquez, Ndoye
5 - Ware, Lewis, Ndoye

Still doesn't impress me amazingly from a talent standpoint, but from a depth and experience standpoint, it will be better. Of course, I hope we don't lose anyone to transferring, but I just don't think I would include Applewhite in the PG group.

I have seen Applewhite play in high school ,he is on par with Thomas and he is a coach's son .It won't be him .I am thinking Johnson will go but how close is him ahd Sword. Bloodman is the odd man out.

Weak troll job. If a player leaves it will be because Ray is culling the team. It will not be because someone else needs/wants them. The freshman are ALL IN. You silly 17ers took his bait.

Wait, wait, wait... you're serious? You think Roquez is physically gifted? He looks like Ravern, yet trying to play the PF position. He scored a lot at the beginning of the season due to beating poor teams who had slow 4-men. I thought it was pretty obvious how easily he gets out-muscled in SEC play. While I don't want to hammer one of our players, it is quite a stretch to call that guy "physically gifted." And please tell me you're also kidding about him having a good shooting touch... Surely you forgot your sarcasterisks after that post.

He's playing out of position. He's a tweener that's 6'7 210. That's too small for PF. Who jumps better than him on the team? Maybe only Flat Top. Put him in the weight room and put 15-20 lbs of muscle on him and you'll see what I'm saying. Watch him shoot free throws and you'll see he has better shooting mechanics than most on the team.

I guess you feel that our players can't count?

Because I simply assumed that our players are perfectly capable of looking at our bench, counting to 7 and then looking at the opponents bench and counting to 15.

You know, its really not very good form to disparage the players on your own team this way, Dawgbreeze

I can agree he is playing out of position, because truthfully he has no real position at the high D-1 level. I agree with you he is too small to play the PF, but he does not have the ball handling, quickness, shooting ability, or jumping ability to play the 3. Let's be honest. If he were to play at the 3 position, he would be Ravern without the jump shot or quickness. I like Roquez and I appreciate him sticking it out in this tough season, but his strengths really don't match up well anywhere on the court against decent competition. We will just have to agree to disagree on his shooting mechanics. He throws it in the ocean every now and then. Emphasis on *throws* and not "shoots."

My starting lineup next year would be Davis, Sword, Thomas, Ware, Lewis with Borchert and Steele being the first two coming off the bench. Ready is interchangeable as far as I'm concerned. Daniels will probably get a lot of playing time too, so I just don't see Johnson, Bloodman, and Applewhite getting PT.

I'm a huge fan of Thomas, and based solely off of their high school tapes I'm still going to take Thomas. He's been streaky as a true freshman but I'd expect that out of him. He has amazing upside as a long range jump shooter and could easily be our leading scorer going forward. Fun to think about since Sword has the ability to penetrate. Those 2 could be a great duo in the history books.

I think we could do better if we dropped these guys and went and signed 3 JUCO or transfers.

I don't think anyone was saying another team wants Ware/Sword/Thomas (which I bet there are several teams who do). I'm pretty sure he was saying we'd politely tell the a few to get the hell out. Not trolling. Legit conversation, especially considering Ray has said numerous times for us not to be surprised if we get a transfer coming in.

I was implying that no one wants our upper class men, which is accurate. I singled out the freshman with "they are all in" I believe we are saying the same thing. The thread title smells of a midget mushroom kingdom. Moving along...

I'd go get Bobby Hunter and Jarekious Bradley and start them both. PG Hunter SG Steele G Bradley (he's 6'5) PF Lewis C Ware. Davis, Sword, Thomas, Borchert, Johnson (plus 15 lbs of muscle or he losses his spot next year) are the 2nd unit. Applewhite plays as last man off bench. Ready and Ndoye RS. Bloodman and Daniels are let go or are walk-ons if that's allowed with Cunningham and Wilson.

I suppose you mean me ,i do not post that much.I was at State whem Kermit Davis and Ron Greene coach here. Greene was here for only 1 season until Bob Tyler ran him off ,by the way Greene took 2 players with him Gary Hooker and Ricky Hood . Greene may have been one of the best coach we ever had.Does Ricky Hood ring a bell. So I quess a weak troll. PS C 34 did not even know who Greene was 2 weeks ago. go figure

Yes the YouTube on Applewhite makes me want to see what he can do. Not the fastest dude I've seen but he gets after it on D and seems to get a good many steals and loose balls. Seems to have a good basketball iq from watching them as well. I like Bloodman but just think the new guys are just gonna hold him out of the lineup. Johnson may be the best kid ever but I think Delta State would love to have him.

Would be legit, especially in Ray's ideal offense. I'd maybe switch out Steele for Sword but I'm with you. Too bad this won't happen.
