I think most of our recruits have gotten offers from other SEC schools. Maybe I'm mistaken?

Not that a recruit can't be a good player and not have any other SEC offers, but your chances are better than players with other good offers will turn out to be good players.

some of the worst recruiting classes the SEC has ever seen, while Orgeron gave them their best classes ever.

that was always the norm for most MS high school recruits. What most other schools may have missed is the Cellular South program and MS high schools changing grading scales to 10 pt. The number of qualified players is much larger today even 5 years ago. Hopefully the other SEC and out of state schools will keep thinking we only have 4-5 qualifiers a year.

the Ole Miss guy said he will take a Miss State loss and go to the Cotton Bowl everyear. Then another Miss agent said you lose to Miss State every year you will not even be in a bowl game.

"Delta State didn't get a single recruit that had an SEC offer."

No matter what the prick said I would always compare it against the school he actually attended. I'll take **** from my Ole Miss friends but I'm not going to take it from some prick who was to afraid to leave his mommy's side to go to a real college.

I would also make it pure HELL for that (17) Wad during training. I can't stand pricks who are Ole Miss fans that didn't even go to school there. Damn It "Big D" you're a (17)ing marine. Just skull drag the mf'ers.</p>

However, there is a lot that factors in. Are the offers legit? Does a recruit's early commitment dissuade other schools from offering?

Take Michael Carr. I don't care what Ole Miss homers say, that guy is good, but he has no other offers.

Eulls, Carr, Neal, Wells, Bohanna, Carmon, C. Hughes, J. Hughes, R. Johnson - ALL solid recruits with decent offers (again Carr is the exception).

That said, we have a number of guys that are not highly rated and not highly sought after - we just have to hope the coaches did a good job evaluating these players. I am not going to pump them up and say they are better than players Ole Miss is getting, but they do have potential and that is the best we can ask for:

Favre, J. Lewis, J. Love, Virges, B. Hill, C. Harrison, C. Giles (although Ole Miss has apparently offered?), J. Howie, B. Clausell, M. Johnson, V. Ballard and Nick Griffin (many folks think Griffin is a diamond in the rough). We can sit here and argue about how good Virges or Griffin might be one day, or how good V. Ballard was in JUCO this year, but the bottom line is that 98% of us have no idea how these people are really going to stack up in the SEC and the only thing we can go by is the fact that no other SEC coaches felt compelled to offer them a scholarship.

I think the talent in Mississippi was a little shallow this year and we just still don't have enough ammunition to swing some of the bigger targets. The staff seems to really do their research, however, and I hope it pays off. Jackie said in one of his articles that he wishes he could have taken some of the small school players but he didn't have the patience to wait it out (or something to that effect). Mississippi is certainly known for producing hidden talent, so we can always hope, but if we are just talking recruiting smack - we don't have much of a leg to stand on at this juncture.

I am hoping we close strong with Humphrey, Robinson, Muniz and Thompson (all have BCS offers) - that would make this a solid-enough class.

There is not one school in the nation that can talk OOC smack to MSU. Any reasonable OM immediately concedes that point to MSU.

you could have made a sympathetic face and said, "I'm so sorry."

Probably was better to just let it drop. I hope you asked him all the tough questions all week.

"Yeah but the Ole Miss game wasn't" and left it at that. Don't worry about it. I had a UM guy in one of my classes and he came back with the Cotton Bowl comment and I just went back to the *** beating they took by us. Just stick to the same argument and they will shut up. No matter how they try and spin it with comments on recruiting, bowls and other crap it bothers the heck out of them that we could have named the score this past year.

Delta State is an excellent school but has a limited curriculum and is in Cleveland. I got no problem with anyone attending one school and being a fan of another school. Sometimes people make decisions based on the reality of need and if you think you have a special fan status because you attended that school then you have no idea what real life is about. One of my daughters got an undergrad degree from Delta State and I was pleasantly surprised with not only the cost versus State and Ole Miss but quality of education. She later got her masters from Ole Miss. She found her bachelors degree at Delta State to have better prepared her than the other students with Ole Miss undergrad degrees. My other daughter got a degree from State and really struggled at first but she stuck it out and loved it before she was done. I might add that even my daughter with the Ole Miss degree is a state fan of sorts. She is a speech therapist and that degree is not offered at state.

As far the recrutiing? Yes, it matters if the bulk of your recruits did not get offers from other SEC schools but maybe not as much as some think. State has a solid class coming in this year with several three & four star guys. Some got other offers and some didn't for various reasons. How about the 2 stars and unrated prospects? I am hoping our staff knows something we don't. They should know them better than anyone even the other SEC schools. Plus, it ain't over yet, there are some solid prospects still yet to make a decision.

My Response to the Ole Miss Jerk: Back to Back Cotton Bowls wins and Ole Miss can't dominate instate recruiting? State shouldn't even be in the hunt with all the success they have had. What's up with that? Oh, that's right you lost to State when all it had was a bunch of two and three star guys.

Me? I am a high school drop out that had to work since a teenager raising a family. I wish that I had gone to college so my life would have been easier but I reared both my children with my late wife's help and saw to it that they got an education. I am a die-hard State fan and have been since my cousin played there in the 70's. He was all SEC his junior and senior years and 2nd team All American his senior year.

So, if you tried to tell me that I can't be a State fan simply because I did not attend that school then I would tell you to kiss my ***.

Or, whether they may be contingent on any number of schools not getting their no. 1 prospect at a position? For some recruits, the offer sheet is obviously accurate or close to it but for many I wonder.

Unless you are Ed Orgeron you generally aren't going to get top tier recruits to a MState or Ole Miss without going to a bowl game. I'm not the least bit worried about our recruiting. As long as we go to a bowl game this year (and if we don't I will be very disappointed) our recruiting will pick up.

I am completely shocked that insurance agents are trained. I thought you just inherited the agency from your Dad or Uncle J.P and hired a bunch of ladies smarter than you to run it while you were out playing golf.

I have read all the above situation you have mentioned. I think in all the situation a best management person should be calm and cool and take the suggestion from a person who is expert in this aspect. I hope you will be able to solve out this problem in a better way. BEST OF LUCK!
