I'm not defending the guy or even suggesting he shouldn't be fired....but damn, this has to be the most miserable time of his life. Getting your *** kicked every weekend, cops protecting your home, fans on your ***. Even at 1.7 million, he's got the be thinking,,,"screw this ****."

What? First I've heard of that. Please elaborate.

If he can't handle it, tough ****. Find another career. Being a head football coach in the SEC is not for the faint-hearted, obviously. He signed up for this, so he should deal with the pressure, or quit.

He's a class guy and obviously from his post-game comments he's taking the losses pretty hard. It's gotta be hard for a guy to work hard for 20 years to get a head coaching job, only for it to be an utter disaster.

What's sad is that we offered (practically coerced) him the job to get us out of a tight spot with the NCAA..we paid a heavey price, he got a hefty salary, and now it's time for him to go...good riddance and take the damn money. Mississippi State football is more important than one guy getting his feelings hurt, while he spends over 1.7mil...

I agree, but he probably thought he was a good head coach. It's foolish for us to think 5 years into this that Croom should've said, "you know, I'm really not head coach material." Human nature doesn't work that way. You rise to your level of incompetency.

then that's another indication of his poor judgment. In a way, he was "used" by State to get us out of a pinch. He was well compensated for being used, and he should take the money and run...as fast as he can in his golfcart across the Alabammy line toward home.

"More than anything else right now, I'm evaluating myself," he said. "And that's what I'll continue to do. I have to look at what I'm doing. I know we're a better football team than that, but we're not showing it on the field."

"The only way I can answer it, guys, is, 'It's me,' " Croom said. "It's got to be. I don't have any other way, I don't know any other way to figure it out."

Sounds like a frustrated and defeated man to me. He is going to quit after this year if this continues and it will continue for at least one more week. The Alabama game is going to be a very long and humiliating game for him also.

but it's gotta be bad to be someone who has defied odds all of your life and then train and study for the better part of three decades for your dream, only to find out at the end of the journey that you completely suck at it. I don't think Croom is an idiot. I think he simply refuses to let himself believe that he cannot do this. I also don't think he will ever quit until he is forced to do so.

He is a man of class and excellent character. Too bad his first head coaching job is at the school that is an absolute graveyard for coaches. I too fee bad for him.

The man is just old and senile. Its time for him to retire and reflect on his life or go back to the NFL. He is old and too stubborn similar to Polk. The old guys cannot hang unless they let their coordinators run the show.

think damn, I sure screwed that up. Guess I'll have to go cash this $1.7mill check before they decide to stop payment.
