How we could still make the NCAAs

Let me preface this by saying I still want Stans gone as soon as possible. I don't give a **** that we beat Ole Miss last night. Besides this year's ******** I'm still very upset that we didn't make it last year with all of our returning ppg from the previous season.

Teams we need to cheer for:

-East Tennessee St and FAU. Both of these teams need to finish strong.

It appears they may do so. Just looking at realtimerpi they are a combined 9-1 in their respective conferences. They could finish strong and maybe finish in the top 100 to negate 2 of our bad losses.

-Alabama needs to finish strong, at least 10-6.

This would also get them into the top 100 potentially and would leave us with one bad loss....

I would add Hawaii to this list but they are 8-7 and 0-4 and are a lost cause.

-We need to finish with at least 13 wins, with wins over Florida and Vanderbilt both of which are at home. We also have to win over either @UK or @UT. In order to win at either we'll need superstar games from everybody. Our other loss can really only be UGA on the road.

-No more monumental %*$@!!% against **** teams. We lose to like Auburn or LSU even once and it's 17ing over.

If you look this over, this would leave us with 3 quality wins and one bad loss with 24 overall wins. That's actually an ok resume and could make up for the shittiness of the SEC this year. It would likely put us on the bubble.

And that's not really realistic. Let's be honest. This is still a horrible team. We didn't do anything but beat a very average team last night.

The best shot to make the tournament is to play well enough to get a first round bye and then win the SEC tournament.

The committee relies heavily on RPI, but it's not the be all end all. There's no guidance that I'm aware of, but I've always heard committee members take into account injuries and how a team finishes. My guess is if we look like a tourney team looking at our record starting with SEC play, we will probably get a pass on our RPI. Of course looking like a tourney team in SEC play wouldlikely result in us winning the SEC.

I don't expect us to make the tourney outside of winning the SEC tourney, but if we beat 3 out of4 of UK, UT, UF, and Vandy, take care of business in the west, and avoid any bad looking losses, I think we'd get in even if our RPI looked like ****. I guess it would also probably require that we not choke in the SEC tournamenet.

The only thing we can hope for is winning the tournament but I don't see it happening. Last night was really the first game that I have been able to watch closely and we are a really bad team. We make terrible mistakes and have horrible decisionmaking. Worse than in years past. I see us going 8 - 8 at best.

we aren't sound enough defensively to do that. There will be games that we will get dominated on the boards or won't be able to hit free throws or will turn the ball over 25 times. Just can't see us being consistent enough to go 13-3 in the league.

Doing well in NCAA is great. First I want to see us do well in the SEC tourney. Beating other SEC teams in the tourney gets us respect if we do it enough times.
