No thanks. Guy's career record is buoyed by taking over a loaded Colorado team
No thanks to program killer. He burned a few bridges in Colorado. He got the job (kissing *ss) over 2 more qualified assistants. When they didn't get it, both left not long after and Slick Rick teams went downhill quickly without them.

I listen to "Ricky on SXM all the time. He'd do a great job for us.
I think Rick would also be good. He definitely knows his football as I also listen to him on XM. I believe that he was fired for getting into a March Madness basketball pool.

Bad hire. He is a west coast guy. I think you need someone with mid-atlantic/north east ties. Guy who are out of their element never seem to do well

If you were to get a "big" name, he would be the guy. We are not UCLA so I would not look at his record there. I would look at the stops similar to us-Colorado and Washington-where he went a combined 66-30. He also had big time recruiting classes, and he now has a huge network of resources accross the whole U.S. thanks to his work as Sirius. If you were looking to give a "big" name a second chance, like Hoke, Weis, and especially Golden, this guy is 100 times better than all of those guys combined.

I wouldn't call CU and UW similar to Rutgers. At the time Slick Rick coached both program they was national players and having won national championships prior to his arrival. Both were recruiting top notch classes before he took over. It was under Slick Rick both program begin their slow decline.

Seriously. Chip Kelly sucked at Oregon after having spent his whole career in the Northeast. Urban Meyer was awful at Florida AND Utah. and on and on.

Good coaches are good coaches. You probably do have a point for middling ones though - there are enough average coaches around that we shouldnt pick one from far away.

There are always outliers. For the most part they have been failures. The difference is Oregon has Phil Knight and Nike money. Rutgers doesn't have that.

I truly believe we will never hire anyone that will appease the fickle people that call themselves Rutgers fans!
