I hope that the sloppy 1st half against Manchester and the (sloppy offense admitted by Coach Johnson in the RTD and the Fredericksburg news papers) will be enough fuel for the coaches and players to come up with solutions to put an end to this going into the Varina game and the playoffs!!! After halftime last night, it looked like HS was going to put this one away quick and blow CF out... the 2nd half, late 3rd qtr substitutions (pulling our studs early) had us in the stands scratching our heads and seeing our lead evaporate in a matter of just a few minutes. I know our staff is quality and will get it fixed!!! They usually do. This has been a brutal schedule and coupled with losing our home field and practice areas has been hard on everybody involved! My question is... Did the cold weather play a factor into it? It is football and everyone involved should be prepared for it! I know, me as a spectator, I was wrapped up and as warm as a Taco Bell Burrito last night! I was not going to be out of my element! I wonder if they (out there on the field) were as prepared as I was!!!

Manchester was the best team in the state last year IMO. This year they are not. They blew out every single opponent and broke the scoring record and had major power 5 players on their team. Why throw shade? You would not have destroyed them. That is a bizarre statement

No shade, not sure what that means, though. I was trying to say that HSHS has shown a problem that they need to correct.... They allowed Manchester to get to their backfield & cause fumbles. Now, CF did the same thing to them. That's HS problem, not Manchester's. The Lancers were a great all-star team. Can't take anything away from their ability to attract top talent and make the most of it! That's what the legendary teams do!

You can’t judge this one by utube video. The ONLY fumble behind the LOS was by the 3rd string RB,playing with the 2nd string QB. When everyone KNOWS at this point he’s a pure pocket passer,so they can tee off on the RB. Other than that...most of the night, our RBs weren’t touched until 2-3yds across the DL. The starting RB,fumbled on his first carry(after a 4 yard gain),went off the field removing his gloves, and went on to run for 128yds after that. The INTs are just trying to be too perfect, and it’s not working. Fact is...even with 5 turnovers TOTAL,they still scored 27 points on a good defense. The defense still has not given up more than two touchdowns in a game all year. Only Smith has allowed less than four touchdowns all year, and with THAT schedule that’s pretty impressive.

Speaks volumes of Smith’s D too!!

I'm confused are you comparing last year's Manchester team to this year's HS team because that would not be comparable being our schedule is much tougher this, all skill position players are new, and we don't have a home field. Last year HS team was a all star team that consisted of players that hadn't lost a playoff game. Several of those players from HS all star team last year have 4 rings. Also 2017 HS I believe would have have last year Manchester team problems as well because they would have had problems stopping our 6'1 245lb rb freshman Dreshaun Taylor and then having to check our receivers. Also don't discount coaching because I believe Johnson and company would have had a great game plan for Manchester last year and made the right adjustments. I do want to pay respect to last year Manchester team because it was a good look for the 804 and if we could have played them it would have been one helluva game.

@757FridayNiteZ i didn’t comment on anything you said? Also, We’re you unable to determine what shade means in the context of what I wrote? Yes Manchester was an all star team... just like nearly all of smith’s team throughout the years

I think there was miscommunication between you two.

Springers deserved to win, best team in the state and they always show up when it matters. As for Forge’s lack of offensive production, their best offensive player and lineman were both out. I don’t think that would’ve changed the end outcome of the game however they probably would’ve gotten more traction on the side of the ball with those two playing.

I knew the WR/DB was out,but it looked like all 5 lineman that played vs Ponax, but I could be wrong. Good luck to you guys. Lotta heart on that sideline!! Glad we got this game scheduled for BOTH teams!

Number 55 is probably their best o lineman and was out, as was one of the starting inside linebackers number 33 which forced forge’s best pass rusher 15 to play a little more linebacker than he typically does, regardless not playing injury game, springs is a fantastic program top to bottom and deserved the win

Yeah, just miscommunication. BTW, i hope to call our team an all-star squad soon! Offers are rolling in for the underclassman & with the current coaching staff, maybe we can at least STOP having kids transferring out for once in a long while!!!

Heck, even in the year we upset #6 Nationally ranked, Ocean Lakes, 2015, and took Westfield to Triple OT, Three All-Region Defensive players transferred out. And each of them ended up playing D1 college ball. That was Coach Morgan's last game.

Looking forward to seeing OS with stability at the helms. I've also been watching Coach Morgan at Marietta. He's got a star studded team down there, but they are still considered an underdog. Hope he gets a title soon to silence the doubters.

I'm feeling this is a special team but my fan level has matured over the last couple of seasons and I know the competition is as tough as ever. Definitely hoping for another CF vs Smith rematch. I'll have to keep an eye on those power points!!! Hoping they have to come down to Chesapeake again!

My bad for being snarky 757... all love brother. Smith has certainly had a few premium squads over the years. I will be rooting for you to win states unless you match up with Dale. Otherwise go Smith!

NP, all respect.

I found myself rooting for Dale when they played playoff games vs CF!

Worthy of discussion? Come on, are you serious? Of course HS should beat Forge this week, but speaking of a possible upset isn't blasphemy. HS is rightfully #1 in the state this year and favored to win every game on the best VA public schedule in recent memory. HS's streak is amazing and even more so this year because they are playing unfamiliar opponents and still winning. I know I'm in the minority, but if anything, the results on the field this year should show HS could possibly lose a game in the next two weeks, and certainly hypothetically speaking against the great teams of the past. OS and Manchester are great programs but they are clearly not loaded with D1 talent this year, compared to teams they've had in the past. Give some credit to them for making HS work for their wins and possibly causing HS to make uncharacteristic mistakes. It wasn't that long ago when Forge shocked Class 6 and upset an Ocean Lakes team that was more high profile than HS. Forge (and similarly Westfiled) aren't typically loaded with crazy talent across the board in any given season, but they have pushed OS's best teams to the limit. Like HS, Forge and Westfield are blessed with top tier coaches and they know how to bring it. Personally, I'm excited to witness HS break records and I'm enjoying the attention HS is beginning to bring to VA football. But if you want to compare recent history, I think HS's on field results against 2019 OS and Manchester, makes Manchester 2018 look more untouchable and gives them a strong case for the best of this decade and maybe the 2000s.
Well written and I still disagree with you lol.

Scoring records really don't mean a whole lot anymore.
