HUGE Weekend for MSU Softball vs. Mississippi

Free Admission! Friday's game is on ESPNU and we need a huge crowd for recruiting/image standpoint. Plus it's against the enemy so that should be incentive enough. Johnthan Banks is throwing out the first pitch and signing autographs. We're giving away autographed memorabilia, Visa gift cards and the first 250+ fans get free shirts. On Saturday we're giving out free sunglasses and having a home run derby postgame with Banks, Mullen, Stricklin, Bob Carskadon, etc...

Just got through hittin' 400 softballs with mine

Fastpitch is a helluva lot more interesting than baseball. And a lot faster. Baseball could learn from softball.

admittedly, i haven't watched much, but the times i have watched it was boring. mostly olympics and college. it's neat at first, but then once you realize that the pitchers have a huge advantage and nobody can hit the ball (the half swing half bunt thing is lame), it gets boring fast. maybe it has changed since i last watched it. If not, they would be better served to back the mound up or something to make it so that people could actually swing a full swing and have a chance at hitting the ball.

Pretty cool promotion. Nice work by the university. I just hope somebody doesn't try to pick up every one of the dog bones.

All the Dawg Bones have been picked up. It's Bulldog Club night at the park tonight so if you're a booster stop by for food and drinks. Johnthan Banks also throws out the first pitch tonight and will be taking pics and signing autographs. ESPNU goes live at 7 tonight from our campus.

Any sport can be boring if you have no interest in it. Hey Mutt you *****. Softball paid for my daughters education at Millsaps. Suck on those eggs and we are not talking about a cheap place to get an education. She coaches while she is working on her doctorate also. Amazes me that some people still have that wife beating mentality like you do but what else do you expect from someone who grew up in Lauderdale county.

I've always assumed Mutt was demonstrating absurdity by being absurd and secretly attended every State softball, volleyball, and soccer game.

First off, they don't have athletic scholarships to Division III schools. Secondly, by giving a girl a scholarship they took it away from a man who now has to pay his own way to college. Third, my parents were from Iowa, so every day we'd re-enact Appomattox and have the neighbor kids surrender to me.

What always gets me watching softball is the constant cheering/singing/clapping. Baseball chatter is one thing but they take it to another level. I'm amazed they have the time to come up with these and compete at such a high level.

Yep that would explain your thought process.
I too also have a daughter that will be attending school next year with a full ride (softball and academics) combined. Not only is softball providing educational opportunities, our travels over the past few years have, with softball, taken us to several places we as a family probably never would have visited and introduced us to life long friends.
Hey mutt do us all a favor and just creep here and quit posting.

This isn't good....

Until a few years ago, one of the great strengths of the Mississippi State Girls Athletic department was that they were horrible at all sports. By being bad, the girls all drew their self-worth from either their families or their boyfriends. However, by winning, they're self-esteem is raised to unhealthy and unreasonable levels. Next thing you know, you see a bunch of 40-45 year old women taking fertility drugs so they can get pregnant for the first time.
