I like Huggins. I respect the way his players want to play for him. I love his sardonic wit and sarcasm. I love he is a throwback and not some wimpy charlatan who changes as the wind blows. But he blew a 0.21. In Pittsburgh. In the North Side. What the bleep was he doing there. He had multiple empties in his car. He last remembered eating at Burger King in Washington. What the hell was he doing? Yes it is obviously a serious problem. But I am trying to connect the dots on why he was there and what the hell was he doing drinking like a frat boy road trip?? I live here(Pittsburgh). I lived in Morgantown. I have made the drive 100's of times. I figure Huggs lives out by Cheat Lake or something (given the number of times he was at Bugsy's) and Cheat Lake to the North Side of Pittsburgh is over 80 miles!! There was a 100K people last night on the North Side. In addition to normal Friday night traffic. He was so blasted he had to run a curb or median, shredded his tire, must have figured out something was wrong and stopped on the road and tried to do a 3 point turn. What? To drive back to Morgantown? With a 0.21 BAA. He would have never made it. He would have wrecked and killed himself or others or both. Was he partying with people for the Taylor Swift concert, (I am serious) but then decided to leave. Was he at the Casino? Did he maybe think "I will get a hotel" but all of the hotels in the area were sold out. Did he think "I will get an Uber" but again all Ubers likely were used. The Pittsburgh officials were telling people to stay away from the Northside. He went there. Trashed. Or he got trashed there. It was a cacophony of just horrible choices and bad timing. This is not say blowing a 0.10 driving home a mile from Bugsy's to his house. He was going to have to figure out how to drive all that way that impaired. This is a mistake that luckily was not fatal to him or anyone else but absolutely his career. WVU and jocksniffer Gordon Gee needs to have a spine here. No trite "retirements". You have to fire him. Sure, you help Huggs get help. But he has to be fired. Like NOW!
