Our only saving grace, and I'm not a weather expert, but my understanding is there is a large area of 'dry air' off the cost of Texas/Louisiana right now. Hopefully that will weaken it or it'll turn into the panhandle of Florida rather than the MS gulf coast.

I live in Long Island, NY. I hear about Sandy on a daily basis. I can't wait until they somehow turn this one into a state of emergency.

I've been reading the weather nerd forums about this for a couple of days. Most models have Starkville dry through game time, so we should be fine for Saturday.

We got a report sent to our company (property and casualty insurance on coast) today that basically said this. They predicted it will not develop into a hurricane and will get pushed more towards the east. Hopefully they're right.

One of my best friends is getting married Saturday at 5 in Gautier (he's a mustard buzzard so doesn't care about football). And it's an outside wedding... I guess that's what they get for scheduling a wedding during football season. Guess we can double up and have a wedding / hurricane party

What sux is wifey and I are gonna have to deal with all the traffic and gouged prices as a result of this, also since I already scheduled my vacation day tomorrow, if my company closes I don't get inclement weather pay.

Yeah we're not going either. And I got tickets to the game next weekend who him going to have to give away cause I'm not gonna miss out on this fall season. From the looks of it we may be able to go Monday though.

Gas price just went down 10 cents here from yesterday, so Karen probably means the price will go back up because of the supposed effects on the oil platforms in the gulf. Any excuse to raise them again.

At any rate, the lowered price should save me a few bucks for the trip down Saturday.
