Humphries i would expect to get 12-20 mins a game...maybe more depending on his production and foul trouble

this is your opinion and you are entitled to it...but basically what you are saying is the humphies is then going to be the greatest player Cal has coached while at UK. maybe ever.

a "double double machine" in 12-20 minutes....only two players since Cal has been at UK averaged 10+ ppg while playing just 20 minutes. KAT and Booker. KAT just one rookie of the year in the NBA and was the primary option on a LOADED team. Booker is/was a flame thrower.

humphries, likely not to start, and when he is on the court is likely to be option 4 or 5...is going to be a double double machine.

got it.

the failure to recognize that what you expect out of him is actually impossible says it all. why not just say..."damn, maybe i need to rethink something a bit more realistic for him."

nope....double down and misdirect.

if humphries is averaging 15 mpg....his production will likely be around 4-5 ppg, a few boards. that is in line with guys who played that much under cal in the past 7 seasons. for humphries to get the numbers people are suggesting, he would have to play 25+ minutes a game. unless you think he is the best player ever to play here.

He could be an elite rebounder IMO.

Problem on next year's team is where does he find the PT. Bam is our starting center. Willis and Gabriel are likely going to play the 4.

Humphries will get some back-up minutes but I"m not sure if he'll be a mainstay. PT is going to be tough to come by and the rotation is going to be tight, IMO. The level of talent on this team will be such that if you want to be out there, you'll have to earn it. Last year guys could play on the front line by default.

I think we go 7, maybe 8 deep if Briscoe returns.

I will say that Bolden has given Humphries a huge opportunity. We will see how serious Isaac is about basketball when we see how much his body has been transformed. I'm hoping our strength and conditioning team surprises me .

Man, people on these boards have really short memories. Some might even say... Jort memories.

The exact same things were being said about Harrelson when we kept appealing the NCAA about Kanter. "Why would Cal pester the NCAA so hard if Harrelson was good to go?!" Then what happened? Harrelson's hard work paid off and he was exactly what that team needed.

Maybe it doesn't happen this year with Humphries, but I'm betting it will. If he focuses on his body this summer, and practicing against Bam, Gabriel, and SKJ... The sky is the limit for Hump.

Go ahead and forget about what history has taught us by disregarding hard working, blue collar players. I'll have a plate of crow cooked raw for you to eat when he's husting rebounds and put backs like Harrelson did to get us to a FF.

And yes, Harrelson did take 4 years to develop but there was very little change until the year he got significant minutes. Plus, Humprhies is a more highly touted prospect at 17/18 then Harrelson was at 17/18.

Did that extra year make Soph Lee better than freshman KAT or Lyles? Did the extra two years help Hawkins become better than Freshman Murray who jumped a class? The second year player usually has a advantage when he starts out being close in skill level to the freshman or highly ranked to begin with.

The only reason some are saying second year hump should be better or as good is due to Bolden not picking UK. You don't see those same people saying Humphries will be better than Bam,Wenyen,SKJ. Even though he has a year on them and those guys were ranked close to or below Bolden

QUOTE="Jkwo, post: 4600209, member: 6104"]All fair points until you neglect to account for the extra year that Hump will have had in the system/in D1.

Freshman bigs vs sophomore bigs - gigantic difference on average.

Doesn't guarantee anything, just saying that it's a noteworthy factor.[/QUOTE]

I think his trajectory will be like Jorts but probably have a bigger impact by year three. The issue is Cal will more than likely continue to bring in bigs who are better than Hump which will limit his minutes. If Kanter would have been eligible then Jorts wouldn't have received the minutes that he did. If Cal gets most of the bigs he is going after next season Hump won't get many minutes. If Skal wasn't downright awful hump would have played even less.

i don't think anyone is forgetting Jorts but they also aren't forgetting Eloy Vargas
