Stay safe brotherThe eyewall is coming ashore now in Ft Meyers, Lee County. Ian is blowing at 155 mph and pressure is 937 mb. It is 2 mph shy of a Cat 5. They say the eye is expected by 2:00 PM
Water is draining from Tampa Bay and the wind is blocking rivers that empty into the Gulf. The wind is so strong it blows the water back up river and they can not drain. So guess what, they flood. In Pinellas County the beach is being sucked out to the Gulf. Things are getting serious now and the worst is yet to come.
Anna Maria Island is empty. It is too late to evacuate so says the Manatee Sheriff. Nobody will come if you call.
The gov just finished another press conference, this one with utility workers. Near 40 centers are being set up that will be a base for the 40,000 utility workers being spread out to restore power.
Well since I have never heard of that and you seem to know all about it then……Ed watches episodes of Cuties on a loop.
Thank you for your concern, we are fine, the storm is well South of us. We do have some great Cats Illustrated posters who are in the middle of this. My thoughts and prayers for them.Stay safe brother
You are confused. You're a petty litte troll that nevers adds anything to this board and site but trash and garbage. So now you do welcome help? I’m confused.
Yep. Disgusting poster. Guaranteed worse in person.Ed, what a pathetic loser.
Ppl are going to lose their livelihoods and lives and all this guy can think about is trying to score petty political points bc he can't produce thoughts of his own.
That his first thoughts is to root for the hurricane bc he wants it make someone look bad tells you the character of this guy. "Here's a natural disaster I'll use to push my partisanship, that is unless Matt Jones praises the response, then I'll change my mind bc that's the depth of my thinking."
It did me.Did that make you feel better?
Complete lieWell since I have never heard of that and you seem to know all about it then……
Old cousin lives in North Naples/Bonita Springs.Ft Myers is getting blasted right now and Naples is already at 5 ft storm surge which is a personal record and expected to get a minimum of 12 ft. This is going to be a very very destructive hurricane
---All they need is more rain. I drive through Jackson/hazard once a month and although things look better there is a long way to go.
Looks terrible. Just hope as many as possible evacuated. Stay safe. This is our Katrina

Just heard wind gusts are 180 mph. The storm is 175 miles wide. It is so massive and the water damage will be record setting. When winds are so strong they empty Tampa Bay and block rivers from emptying into the Gulf of Mexico man is pretty much helpless. That type of activity from Mother Nature makes man a grain of sand on a beach. We are at the mercy of a power we can not control. We can build electric cars and ban fossil fuels but nature just cranks up and does what it wants to do.
Keep in mind once this thing leaves Florida it is not finished. It may head North and go into the Carolinas and Appalachia. Massive flooding could be in there future. It is going to be a rough ride for a few days.
Ignorant---
Well, here's the thing....If you don't want to be in a flood, then don't build in a floodplain.
Right now the only thing to do is get really drunk.

My mother was 9 years old and living in Clearwater when the last direct hit occurred. She use to talk about it. I was born there and lived most of my life there. We never had more than a minor tropical storm. Very minor.Tampa off the hook again. Those mfs haven’t had a direct hit in 100 years. We’ve had three here in 20 years.
We got a Villa style condo in Punta Gorda - If this thing doesn't slow down there are going to be a lot of homes without roofs. Here's a link to a live cam from Fisherman Village:I’m in port charlotte as well. Gonna be a long couple days hoping it may shift slightly at some point.
If I could get there, I would leave now 06. Stay safe !Right now the only thing to do is get really drunk.

The south sticks togetherGuess what state sent help when Eastern Kentucky had the disastrous floods. Florida. Help came all the way up from Florida. I don't know if your governor thanked us but DeSantis did not do it to seek praise. Kentucky needed help and Florida had the resources to help. So help it was.
Florida learned many years ago to be prepared and not depend on the Feds. Too much red tape and hoops to jump through. Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have already contacted Gov DeSantis and will provide help as needed and requested. We may not need it but if we do it is there for the asking. Fortunately Florida is a very wealthy state and prepares for disasters in advance. We have to because hurricanes are common and expected.
Joe Biden showed Florida what he thought of us by refusing to talk to our governor. He picked three very liberal mayors and called them. No problem, they need help but it is doubtful Joe remembers their names by 5:00 o'clock this afternoon.
Natural disasters usually become political. Why do you think Presidents show up and get in the way of massive cleanup efforts. They want to act as if they are concerned. Biden has shown for three years Florida can go to hell as much as he cares and we know that. He dumps 75 planes full of illegals on us without prior knowledge. They land in the middle of the night and are dumped. He has filed one Federal Lawsuits after another against Florida. He will file many more.
So now we have a little issue brewing in the Gulf of Mexico but we have been here many, many times. We will make it because we are ready.
With all the focus on the west side, people are forgetting this thing is going across the state and going to drown the NE section as well....Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Daytona....
There’s only scattered cell service on the gulf but a friend texted and said basically all of Anna Maria is underway. This surge reminds me of the Lake Charles landfall, total destroyer
I promise we aren't. Schools, Walmart, etc... closed this morning in Jax for the rest of the week. We're just patiently waiting our turn.
My Florida fam always say Tampa is the DOnut Hole, storms just go around it and leave it safe. In the same vane, Key West hasn't had a direct hit in over 100 years either which is nuts considering its the tip of the Keys just out there with no protection (besides Cuba) but also the shallow waters help. Local lore says the candles at St Mary's Basilica is how they stay safe.Tampa off the hook again. Those mfs haven’t had a direct hit in 100 years. We’ve had three here in 20 years.
That baseball helmet isn't going to do **** when a piece of lumber comes barreling down the road. There is a time for hero reporting which he has done many times, but this is above what any of their vet reporters have ever experienced.GD Cantore is nuts. There are street signs buckling. I mean thanks for the reporting but dude, GTFO of the street and seek shelter.
