An individual would have to be rather long in the teething area to remember Notre Dame High School in Greensboro, which was located at the southwest corner of Summit and Bessemer Avenues, this golden domed institution being the home of the infamous Matthew " Hurricane " Matthews. Honestly, it's hard to believe that Hurricane is still alive after all the stunts he and his future bride, Helen " Nor'easter " Splintbone pulled. One of the most fascinating tales of their folklore was when they tied fifteen umbrellers together and jumped offen a Rowan County cliff at a local rock quarry. I heard that Ms. Splintbone was Miss Mississippi a few years after she and Hurricane moved to Starkville so Nor'easter could scribe her thesis as she worked on her doctorate, her paper titled, " Hurricanes - A Weather Disaster Or A Wino From Greensboro. "
P.S. Thanks for the memories, Mister Dines.
