I guess the 'well at least he doesn't get blown out' card can't really be played any more? Sigh, looks like Bo still coaches here minus the sideline antics.
The good news is that these guys are recruiting from something other than their cars. It WILL get better.
Maybe. So far our recruiting is at Bo Pelini levels in terms of actual commits. We are rated mid 20's. I hope you are right, and they have brought in tons of blue chip talent on recruiting visits. That is much better than Bo. But I don't give a crap about appearances. I want results.
This was pathetic. We just got our asses kicked by the most aveverage team in the country.
This is "better." People are dreaming if they believe this staff will bring home any hardware. Hell, they need to prove they can win the division first.
No kidding, much like the 'he doesn't get blown out mantra', our 'he's recruiting like a madman' chant is kind of ringing hollow....hope some guys pull the trigger and soon.
That just beat a team in the top 4 of the playoff race......Iowa has gotten some people healthy as the year wore on and Beathard tore us a new one. He'll be playing on Sundays next year so we won't have to face him.
Don't hold your breath because some of these guys are going to not announce until their All Star games or signing day. This class is already good and going to get better its just a matter of how much better.
They should be able to coach the players they have....iowa just beat us 40-10...totally unacceptable and indefensible ....our coaching IS horrid!

Funny I haven't heard the "Riley doesn't get blown out" argument lately.
And yet the recruiting results to date are NO better than what Bo did...
We had just beat Iowa in their house when Bo was fired, fast forward 2 years and we get absolutely beat down...
5-7 vs the Big Ten West in 2 years for Riley
Where will he be playing on Sundays? in the NFL? you can't be serious, unless you mean holding a clipboard on the sideline

No kidding, Bethard ain't playing anywhere on Sundays, doesn't have the arm strength. That being said, he is 3x the QB Armstrong is.
I'm not sure I would agree with this, but that doesn't mean I would fire Riley either. He's 9-3!! Overall, he's brought respectability and integrity back to Lincoln, but I'm afraid in terms of wins and losses, this might be his ceiling. It is what it is though, and people need to temper their expectations and keep supporting this program.
Iowa is the most average team in the country. They do nothing better than average.
40-10 is a complete embarrassment.
That should not ever happen to Iowa. Ever.
But it just did. So, what's Riley gonna do about it?
Things that need to happen.
1) win the bowl game
B) recruit their asses off. Top of 15 class.
D) Not lose to average teams anymore.

This! It is total bs to blame today on Iowa's vastly superior talent. They are a better coached football team and that is obvious. Our team did not improve as the year wore on. In fact, we got worse.

Maybe you don't realize...you guys are an average team....below average since joining the B1G...And you tend to get blown out..Wisconsin put 70 on you in your only Championship game appearance..OSU put up 61..Iowa 40....oh and we have won the west as many times as you have...lol...so welcome to average and the future of Husker Football...you don't play Kansas anymore

Thanks for posting this. You're right. Nebraska is not winning enough. That's why pelini is coaching in the FCS and Riley has to get better.
Also a major difference in why you pay a 2.25mm bonus for 7 wins and Nebraska doesn't. You're cool was average. Nebraska is not.
