75% of this board uses alcohol just to spend time with people yet they condemn any action that might show respect to another person. Sport is about disrespecting other human beings, right? In order to win you have to beat somebody. ... if any of you had every played in front of 16-90k people you would recognize how purposeless the belittling of opponents is...players have no respect for fans who put down and attempt to distract their opponents, it embarrassing.

hmmm one person posts a completely unsubstantiated rumor about the chant being banned and literally everyone starts shouting about "OMG liberal faggots and their safe spaces!!"

Ignoring the people who have given a much more reasonable and plausible sounding explanation that it's just not being done during player intros anymore.

I hope you are being sarcastic.

To make a case for the other side, it *does* seem perhaps racist in tone, considering recent events (with the use of proclaiming a "power" over another, ala in a"white power" expression).

But this isn't like the Ole Miss mascot we're talking about so in reality this is incredibly stupid to ban or to even bring up as anything but.

Actually this is a good point. Maybe the chant should be changed to "HUSKER ABOVE-AVERAGE" for football and "HUSKER SHITASSFUCKWHYAREWEEVENHERE" for basketball.

Not bad. Only when it might not distract the other team though. Gotta be good sports. Not during timeouts, free throws, or any time there is any action on the floor, before the game, or during halftime lest the other team doesn't get fair shake in hearing their coach.

Would it be ok to enjoy a wry, inward smirk if an opposing coach makes a fool of himself on the court or sidelines? If any visiting fan catches me smile, I'll deny that my amusement is at their team's expense--I'll say I just remembered something funny I'd read in "Blondie" that morning.

I agree absolutely. It's absolutely ridiculous that it would be banned because it's "not nice."

If that is truly the case, that people thought it was generally not a nice thing, or a cordial thing, or a respectful thing..... then they can literally eat **** and F themselves. This is Nebraska.

Its simple really....

HUSKER is offensive because it is short for Cornhuskers. By minimizing the contribution of Corn, it becomes a derogatory term showing a bias against plants.

POWER is offensive because it can produce a trigger as well as promote bias against those who may oppressed but also for those who choose to save the planet by living a negative carbon lifestyle.

GO is offensive because it insults those who may have severe constipation and wish they could.

BIG offends for any number of reasons including fat shaming, those afflicted with dwarfism, and the obvious.

RED is offensive to the color blind who cannot see it, those of the ginger haired persuasion who see it as a stereotype,

You all need to check your priviledge and start being more sensitive to those who may be different from you.

This is definitely the message board posting of the day.

Cool. I have now come around to the snowflake way of thinking. Golf clap only for me when the Huskers are on defense.

This is a lesson in how not to announce a cheer led by cheerleaders during player announcements.

For the third time I have no insight into the credibility or way this went down. But I can imagine.

Let's say some older boosters call in and say "hey, Shawn, I think it's a bit rude that we orchestrate a cheer while the opposing players are being announced. Can we just hold off orchestrating this cheer until timeouts or during game play?"

He hears it a few more times and thinks "well it's not that big of a deal to let the names be announced without an organized cheer over their names. Sure. Let's just not orchestrate the crowd to cheer Husker Power (or anything) during the player announcements.

Then the message is delivered poorly and now everyone on this board is screaming about liberal snowflakes. Rich stuff.

I have a daughter that will be going to one of these higher educational institutions in roughly 5 years, and I am really on the fence about what the hell is going on at college campuses these days.

On one hand you have the kids and the administration at colleges and university that have cooked up this victim mentality, where anything and everything can be offensive. There is such a knee jerk reaction to these "microagressions" that it is comical.

Which on the other hand, I think I am fine with, because while they are out protesting or rioting because Nickelodeon stopped showing reruns of iCarly. My kid will be studying or going to class because we have prepared her for the real world.

Not to go all political, but I have never seen things this divisive in our country. I was not quite born yet for the civil rights movement of the 60's, so I can't compare it to that, but the amount of venom being spit around right now is sickening.

I just had an email exchange with Marc Boehm and he was completely oblivious to this. It makes me wonder who is making these calls and how that is being communicated in-house beforehand.

You boys will blame anything on us lib cuck-flakes, won't you? Did you forget which state this is taking place in, how that state votes, and who is on Capitol Hill? You don't get to blame everything on us any more. It's your show, just you guys and a big ol' mirror.

If I could place a big fat bet that the people who complained were the same blue hairs writing letters to the editor about "hip hop hoopla" and standing at football games and that they voted for Ricketts, I'd slap that bet down in a big hurry.

Sounds like the issue is just the timing and that nobody is banning anything, but please, don't let that stop you from frothing at the mouth. You should see if Tomi Lahren will make a video about it for you.

Between this and the broken chair trophy, it's like the administration doesn't like fun new traditions started by fans.

Again, I know nothing about the specifics or why it was brought on. The word "mean" was thrown out by one guy on Twitter.

I believe hey were only suggesting to not have the cheerleaders leading a chant over player names being announced. It's not the worst thing in the world. If the fans cheer go for it.
Well if one guy on twitter said that word then it's a 100% irrefutable fact that Eichorst told him to say it.

I have never thought much of Marc Boehm when he was around with the Sadler era.

Heard one year we played MSU early in Lincoln and he and his family were at the Bowl site already enjoying themselves when we played in Florida in the CapitalOne Bowl.o_O

Boehm seems to be oblivious to a lot of things with our basketball programs.

This is certainly worthy of a tirade. Its amazing how many people can get their panties in a twist over nothing. I agree its stupid, but good grief, talk about triggers ...
Definitely some people feeling microaggressed about their chants. It's like somebody turned the heat up on this issue and they're melting down. In the way that a small portion of water would that had been in a solid state but turned to liquid due to increased temperature.
