Just keep telling yourself whatever makes you feel better about the tier 3 program that you have. Maybe yall can win a baseball championship without having the hottest opponent drop out of the field so you can claim a real one. And maybe that joy will last longer than one whole year since we took that trophy from yall last time.
Compare and contrast, everyone else in the baseball world already has lol

NC State yes was hot and a casualty of Covid. State mowed through actual legit baseball programs. Then defeated Rocker for his first ever CWS loss. And maybe the hottest team in the regionals at our super. Meanwhile, OM beat USM and Arkansas. 😂😂😂😂 Congrats. Only OM fans would brag about that run, no one else.

We beat everyone we were supposed to beat (with only one loss thrown in btw) and then took your trophy. Sorry yall only got to enjoy it for just one year. The sting of having to pass that trophy on to us must have really hurt.

It's pretty pitiful that the only joy in your measly baseball history involves what you think State fans felt and not just being happy for your team. Talk about obsessed 🙄.

Yall had the trophy in 2021. We won it in 2022. You had an opportunity to win it again by playing the following year. You didn't. We did.
All of our 6 year bullpen covid seniors left, yours stayed, why are you confused at how this works lol

It takes a little time to understand the college baseball scene, maybe in 10-20 years you can get half a clue

BFW just setting it up so he wins either way. Lane stays, "I told you so!" Lane leaves, "Oh well, I was wrong as he laughs at OM." Perfect scenario for him.

Much like the obsession y'all are having with Kiffin leaving OM.

Yeah, we enjoyed it for about two weeks. Then back to football. That's what pays the bills and makes it all go. Unfortunately, we 17'd that fall up with losing four of our last five. (I am truly glad the pirate won his last game though. I really mean that.) Oh well, four 10 win seasons in the last five years has been nice. Hopefully it happens again soon. Who knows???

If this is all a troll to just screw with LSU and Florida then he will never be considered for another job.
I keep reading this same comment over and over. If he keeps winning in little ol’ Oxford, MS at the same rate, the big schools won’t care what happened with a supposed troll job. The big schools can “fix him” just like ClintonInHelen with all the arrested women he “hits.” And yes, I know I’ll be told they can’t keep winning because the schedule was a gift. Do you guys not realize that if he stays, OM will have to give him a huge NIL budget? I’ve heard that drum beaten to death here as well. You can buy a team in today’s college football.

Says the Reb camped out on a State message board. To be fair, who ISN'T talking about Kiffin leaving OM?

So you never answered, my question...are you ready to come back down in the cellar with us when Kiffin realizes he won't have anymore cupcake schedules at OM and leaves?

You've heard that drum beat to death because it's true. 2 ranked teams on this year's schedule. 5 ranked teams on next year's schedule, plus LSU and Florida who will have new coaches and potentially be improved, and rumored Pitt (ranked before losing to Notre Dame Saturday) as OOC P4 opponent replacing Washington St. And no getting lucky with a Div II QB they signed as a cheap backup next year either.

Why was it lucky? They bought that quarterback and will give him a bigger budget to buy one next year. If buying a team is the new norm, you have to agree he can do that with a bigger budget. He will also have stability at the head coach position, unlike the two teams you are citing as possibly being better with a new coach.

I'll admit it.

That, combined with split between Cohen and our fans/university, then Leach's death..........killed my fandom. Maybe permanently. And then our own self-destruction with our logo bullshlt is even worse.

I always thought I'd have baseball. Then ya'll, and even 17ing worse......Tennessee.....win titles. I didn't give a damn about LSU, they are the Bama of baseball. We won't ever catch them.

We're going to have to be real damn good at something before I come back and start caring. But as for you........it's gonna suck real bad if we beat you Friday, in a lot of ways. Make sure you come on back and let us know about it. I'll be laughing either way, at ya'll, or at own fans for justifying Lenny and pulling for the backup QB.

you need to look at the 2nd strings my friend. At OSU, at Georgia, at Bama, at Texas and Texas A&M. Indiana is doing better than Ole Miss with having a good solid 1st string only. LSU and Florida will spend what it takes to get up to the tier 1 level with roster costs that are insane. And they have MUCH larger fanbases that will buy ESPN TV subscriptions and ESPN Unlimited packages and help ESPN sell more ad revenue. So ESPN and the SEC and Vegas will give them all things like night games at homes and better odds on the 50/50 calls that decide games. This business is not about "who has a decent mid level fanbase with a good team that can beat good teams at home." Sucks but that is the business

Even Kiffin thought this guy was nothing more than a cheap emergency backup.

So the money in Oxford that they raise doesn’t count. That’s basically the argument. I hate Ole Miss, but you guys don’t make any sense to me. Either you can buy a team or you can’t. For the record, I think he will only stay in Oxford if the NIL budget amounts are comparable.

I don't see LSU letting OM make them look like chumps. I figure LSU can and will keep throwing NIL cash at Lane if it comes to that, quite a bit more than OM can match and especially sustain year after year.

It is not all about the money he gets paid and the NIL roster. That is assuming it is a level playing field. It is not.

And as far as the money, it is a SUBSTANTIAL increase in what they are spending now for 2 deeps and elite QB and receivers and linemen. Just to have a chance every 3-4 years. College football is a billion dollar business, in the SEC conference alone. $40B collectively across all D1. $22B in TV revenue deals that prefer much larger fanbases.

Hope this makes dollars and sense. And as @patdog states above, LSU has at least 2 billionaires engaged and many other millionaires, along with the governor of a state with a fanbase 3.5X bigger than Ole Miss and a brand value 2X that of Ole Miss. One of the advantages of having a larger population that pulls for only 1 football program. Which means, LSU has, can and will win a natty. Big difference.

Lane isn’t going anywhere. He’s trolling OM’s two “rivals.” The admin, big boosters and players are in on it.

That'd be like you going on 2 public dates with your wife's coworkers that she doesn't like.

When she finds out and is upset, she asks you what you plan to do, you tell her yall can talk about it after the holidays.

Meanwhile, the kids are asking questions if yall are splitting up or staying together and they're getting upset. But you tell them you don't discuss it during the holiday season.

All the neighbors are talking about it. Some close friends ask you about it and you tell them you don't discuss it during the holiday season.

Your wife in the meantime is talking to divorce lawyers and your kids won't speak to you any more.

The damage to your family, their reputation, and your own reputation is taking a massive hit every day it drags on.

Then the first week of January, you tell everyone that you plan to stay with your wife.

All so that you could troll your wife's 2 coworkers that she doesn't like.

Makes a lot of sense and would be an epic troll.

You're thinking of the game in Pearl, MS. Yes, y'all won it in 22. That's the Governor's Cup. It has zero National implications.

Roll the dice then on his entire future. As he mentioned, lose 3 games and miss the playoffs gets you fired now. Bet on that which you cannot control and lose 8 figures in the process.
These days, he'd probably make more money getting fired from LSU than staying at UMiss for another 5 years.

And yes it will suck immensely when we lose on Friday. I'm already counting on it.

And no I will not be back here afterwards. It will be too painful. I'll swear off all message boards for a week or two. Finally come to terms and laugh about it after a good cry. Then I'll come back and tell y'all all about it.
