right…people are only saying we don’t want him because we won’t get him. Lame.

“Nah, I wouldn’t want a fancy car” says the guy who can’t afford a fancy car.

The kid might not be a star talent, but dismissing him because of who his father is or some other bogus excuse is a loser’s coping mechanism.

You can be sure that if he committed here every single one of you would be happy about it.
If Pike was happy to have him.
I’d be

So you want the guy who grew up in the projects without a father, who was handed the world at 15 years old, labeled the Chosen One on the cover of Sports Illustrated yet somehow EXCEEDED expectations by becoming arguably the best basketball player the world has ever seen, who has never had a serious scandal - no drugs, partying, or unfaithfulness to his high school sweetheart, the man who opened a school that will provide thousands of graduates with free college tuition, who has by ALL accounts been the tremendous father he never had….you want THAT guy, nowhere near the Rutgers basketball program?

Btw please save your Fox News regurgitated response for someone who hasn’t already seen it a million times. We all know what’s coming, so please just save it.

A little over the top man.

I think LeBron is a respectable man and role model on most fronts.

Still, his hypocrisy with China and rush to judgement on the police shooting, etc are definitely questionable and he tends to sometimes make those mistakes. It's also going to be a media circus whether it's his fault, or just rhe attention he rightfully commands, so I'd get that some don't want the program to be involved in all of that hype.

Well Pike recruited him but didn’t offer him. Sometimes in business you price deals intending to miss them. I’m not sure that was the case here but there’s got to be a reason we didn’t offer.

FLJ, and I’m a Laker fan. I’ll take Kobe’s drive and attitude over LJ every day. Oh and yes MJ > LJ.

I don't really know enough about this situation to comment on it specifically, but I think it's a fallacy to assume that we would automatically want any top 50 kid here no matter what.

Both things can be true:

1. Rutgers program is at a place where we don't have room or use for every random Top 50 recruit. It's not Brony is a Top 10 recruit or anything.

2. People are vastly blowing up how much of a "distraction" it would be to have Brony at Rutgers.
It's mostly just "hate" for LeBron. Brony would be on campus for 7 months before leaving for the NBA (likely same as Dylan and Ace will be).

Lebron isn't attending any games and causing a distraction on the sideline or going to in the locker room or practice.

From the article in the OP:
"Last fall, the 18-year-old caused a stir when he posted photos of himself in Ohio State Buckeyes gear on Instagram after a visit to the campus."

A stir? He went on a visit and posted a picture of himself in the schools jersey??? Like every other single recruit in the country does?? The horror!!
Such a distraction....

That’s fine. The point really has nothing to do with whether people are right. Shelby is accusing them of being insincere; of only saying they don’t want him because we aren’t getting him. I think that’s clearly false; these people legitimately don’t want him.

Ok. But not convinced. I think it’s a jealousy thing. Above all else We trust Pike. No one would have anything negative to say if he committed here.

I know Lebron’s kid would be a special case, but I can’t think of a single recruit who was ever criticized. It’s always a love fest.

I wasn’t that impressed with him at the Toms River area showcase

Not sure if this is a joke or if you just haven’t been reading these boards. Unfortunately lots of recruits have been criticized. To be fair, none of them have been top 50 players.

I attended RU, they will always be #1 for me in loyalty and $$$ wise... Am I not allowed to follow and root for another school? For the record , when they aren't playing RU I also pull for Indiana. My dad taught there before he taught at RU. BTW. I make no effort to hide my Gator fandom. I often correct people here when they post stuff here that involves UF and is incorrect... Nice try for the gotcha Bob...

You do y'all like your crow served???

https://www.outkick.com/bronny-james-recruiting-top-three-oregon-ohio-state-usc-lebron-phone-call/

I think Bronny can go to any college he wants to. All I have to do is pick up the phone. If Bronny says he wants to go there, he’s good enough.

Among the top-three is Oregon— but there is just one snag as of right now. Ducks head coach Dana Altman has yet to officially offer Bronny a scholarship.
And what do you think this proves? Kid is a top 50 ranked player to begin with. It's not like he's some walk-on type that has no reason being on the floor.

It proves that where ever he goes because of who James is it is going to bring a unique set of unpredictable elements, some of which could be very distracting from a cause that takes a lot of focus winning college Bball games.
If a coach is not including that in his risk reward equation he is potentially making a miscalculation

I would add to the list of concerns the Shannon Sharp incident in LA against Memphis and James’ response. Seems like again he has his own rules, anyone else would have been kicked out of the arena

You guys are such homers. If Rutgers were a finalist you’d be drooling over him. Sour grapes.

You think Wagner’s dad and grandfather were choir boys? Compare them to Lebron and rethink the scorn.

Agree or disagree with his game or politics…but having his kid here would be good for the program.
Not so sure about him being a benefit. Barry Bonds, the entitled son of an MLB star, was a cancer at Arizona State.

All his teammates wanted him kicked off the team. We don't need drama like that.

And fans tend to overestimate everything and bring things into the equation that has nothing to do with nothing. So I'll agree to disagree here as Lebron has his own games that he needs to focus on winning.

And I'm not even a Lebron fan.

I don’t give a flying fk who he is. The coach makes scholarship decisions not a players parent
And how is that different from many wealthy parents calling an admissions office to get junior admitted?
Because he’s giving an interview and saying he will get his son into any school he desires.

We're not in the mix but nothing wrong with if we were. Crazy to think there would any drama. LeBron is pretty low key and has been pretty much hands off in the kids recruitment. If Pike was recruiting him, he's definitely one of Pike's kind of players and I'd be happy to have him. And having LeBron at his games is not bad publicity in my opinion. Rutgers basketball is lately making a name for itself and it's only getting better with the classes Pike is bringing in.
This aged extremely well 🤣

I must have missed where Bronny is on campus and LeBron is sitting sideline during games.
Oh wait - it hasn't happened and it wouldn't happen.

Are you all bent out of shape because a parent tweeted about their child's college recruitment?
I'm still waiting for both parents and sibling to start tweeting and giving out information.
Note how Dylan's mom injects herself - "we decide the time is right".
But we hate parents injecting themselves in college decisions, right?

If you cant differentiate between a parent making a decision with their child and a parent calling a coach and telling him the kid will be on the team , then my friend you need to tell Rutgers to refund whatever tuition you paid them. You are a full blown retard
