That’s just trying to make themselves feel better. It’s also trying to save face in front of their friends. Honestly it’s just sad and pathetic. Similar to the “didn’t go our way on the scoreboard but had so much FuN!!11” social post. You see this with a lot of out of staters who develop friendships with whatever state school fans they live in.
I honestly don’t give a 17. But I’m certainly not going to go out of my way to convince people that I’m happy about it.
Perhaps some people are above it and like it for the state of MS, which could be valid. But let’s be real only about 1% of people reach that state (truly, and not being fake). I’m talking people like John Grisham (in the old days anyway).
I do think a certain percentage are just stupid, and don’t understand fandom. But that probably overlaps with the idiots who are obsessed with image that I described above.
