There is one thing to consider. Ole Miss wins a baseball National Championship right after we win our first. Does them winning a football NC open the door for us?

Im just looking for a good football game. Don’t really care one way or another who wins. Can’t watch the Dawgs play, might as well still enjoy the sport.
You can call me a fake fan if you’d like, I’m an alum that vehemently pulls for my dawgs. But don’t donate to any NIL/collective, don’t have season tickets to any sport, and rarely purchase tickets to games other than once every one to two years…..

My daughter (4th grade) came home from school the other day and just randomly tells me “Mrs X (her teacher) went to MSU but says she is pulling for Ole Miss in the playoff.” I just responded with “Well, Mrs X doesn’t have enough hate in her heart.” and continued what I was doing.

My wife (an Ole Miss alumnus) was crying at the end of the game, and I, a loving husband, did not laugh in her face.

I watched the game outside a bar looking into watch on the tv. Didn’t want to hear bear shark music or fans. It was awesome, just played STP and Velvet Revolver albums which eating chips and salsa…while totally sober for sure GTHOM
Pulling for Ole Miss because they are from Mississippi is akin to pulling for the devil because he’s in the Bible. Anything good that they do in football is bad for us. If you are too 17ing stupid to know that then that’s on you. If you know that and still don’t care, then you’re not a fan. You’re a casual observer that kinda hopes we win. Nothing wrong with that but don’t call yourself a fan, because that isn’t what you are.
The other option is to join the fray y’all started and charade as a state fan who incessantly thinks about TSUN. Nah, I’m good. The pendulum will swing….one day.
I get your overall point. I watched that game last night, as just another game. I was relieved they lost but ...
Y'all need to start buying tickets, even if you can't come to the game. Even if they're cheap top rows of the upper deck. Give them away, eat them, something to support the school.... if you want State to get better.
What I enjoy about College football:
- Last night, should OM have won, Chambliss would have had a shot at winning a D2 AND D1 national title….when had that happened?
- Malachi Tony (Miami #10) was 17 when the season started, dude should be in his senior year of high school. Instead, he’s out there tearing up the turf
- the 1st and 2nd string QBs for Indiana are brothers; the youngest one apparently talks **** in practice when the older one (heisman winner) flubs a throw….i wish I could have that experience with my brother
What I dislike about college football:
- QB Hammerhead (Beck) is in his 7th year of college football, similar to Diego Pavia
- NIL…..I’ve aired these grievances in other posts….
Overall, I enjoy the sport and my team as I do not seek validation for the “level” of fan I am from others. There are other priorities in life that outweigh doling out a few measly dollars so kids, that have lived in a bubble their entire lives, can make more money than I do while essentially working 2 jobs. Sure, they’re far more talented than I; wonderful, God has given them that blessing.
I will continue to pull for the Bulldogs and attend games when/if able. I will continue to support programs at MSU through my daily duties and personal interests (participation in ROTC, purchase of merch, etc…) via my time. However, I will not buy tickets to burn. That is completely ludicrous
I fall squarely into the case of multiple things being true for me with this.
1. My wife and her family are all Ole Miss people who for 20+ years have been incredibly kind and supportive of me and my obvious and demonstrated fandom for Mississippi State, being incredibly gracious to me and any of my people who have traveled to Oxford with tailgates and anything else, and are genuinely happy for me when MSU does something good. On that account I am always very happy for them when their team accomplishes something good and I am usually even able to want it to happen for them. We do not trash talk each other and are pretty objective in analysis of the other's side (except for my 8-year-old nephew who once made amends by mailing me a hand-drawn and colored M-State logo in apology for some Egg Bowl trash talking).
2. I fully recognize what a complete and absolute insufferable nightmare it would have been for Ole Miss to win a national championship amongst the majority of that fanbase, and I am not at all sorry that I don't have to deal with that.
These two things exist simultaneously within me, and I think that's fine.
