I am a fan of football in the high school ranks more than any other level. And to see the way the Seminole is shaking out here early, tends to tell me we are in for a grand finale come November.

Heading in to the season, we all had our assumptions. Heritage looked primed...Amherst was hustling... Brookville had a star QB... And Liberty and JF were aiming... But the way it looks early, we may have some co champion discussions soon.

Then there's EC Glass... They had so many parts to the puzzle, but a fair assumption in the Seminole woulda been 6-4... They truly pulled off an upset that most would have thought Heritage would run away with...

But more importantly, here in area, we get to see a VARIETY of teams vying for the areas top crown.
I think it is truly wonderful to experience the change of the guard!!!

As for what's next, I'll say this... I think we will have a couple of 1 loss teams and a couple of 2 loss teams in the Seminole... Real close race too!!!

Good post. You may want to read The thread this week in the Seminole on the 4A board. That guy breaks down all the matchups and gives you players to watch from each team. I always enjoy it. I try to figure out which is the best matchup for the week and go watch that game. Always at least two great games to choose from in the Seminole

Not sure what to predict except no more shock if the presumptive favorite loses in a given night. I know Liberty or Rustburg may seem to be down this year, but would anyone be surprised to see them upend a Brookville or Amherst or EC Glass. The beauty is everyone plays one another and that is the most objective result. The Lancers finish at Heritage and Glass. I say those games may determine the Seminole and playoff seeding.

LCA at JF should be a fun one this week! I think it's going to be a 3 team run to the end with heritage, ec glass and LCA

I think the spoiler could be JF. So many games early that seem to be heavyweights then a team could get hot late. Schedule is very balanced. Attending any game since all are reasonable drive should make for must see football.

For once, I actually hope you're right! LOL it helps Glass every game Heritage wins. Plus I have a Lynchburg City bias so anytime Heritage or Glass wins is great for the city of Lynchburg. It's been a very long time since both schools were good in football at the same time. I always say that I hope Heritage is 9-1 every year...just lose to Glass LOL.

Vols you’re a Heritage alum but cheer for Glass? Just wondering. I graduated from Tunstall but I cheer on and support GW athletics so I’m not judging lol

Yea, I was wondering if anyone remembered me saying that I was a Heritage alumni. I'm a teacher at Glass now so that's where my heart it is. I'm loyal to my paycheck. LOL :D

Thanks! It's definitely a challenging job but more rewarding than challenging. I wish our local and state government officials felt that we should be making doctor and lawyer money! LOL

Too bad for the young man and JF. They still could squeak in playoffs. Injuries are a great equalizer and change even the best made plans.

JF for sure they are now on their 3rd QB

Wouldn't count them out just yet. They will modify the game plan and go with another QB. They will still put points on the board. Bigger question is can they finally get their defense together...

Isn't #7 Caleb Smith the QB now? Isn't he 2nd string or is he injured too?

If I remember right from earlier this season when I saw them I think the second string was #11 Pribble. My memory isn't the best, but that seems right. I think they have enough weapons to win this week but next week will be really tough

I think Smith is the quarterback now. Pribble broke his foot in the Staunton River game.

It really wasn't completely ironed out yet who was 1, 2 or 3 when the injuries started, since they lost a QB in the first game and 2 others were injured at the time. They even used the JV QB in the mix the first game of the season,

I figured I was a little off. One thing for sure your athletic training staff has been working overtime this season tending to all the injuries. JF is a great school, great kids, great faculty, and a great program unfortunately the injury bug wont seem to let up.

Unfortunately, these aren't your typical injuries like sprains, bruises, pulled muscles, concussions. These are season ending broken bones and such. 7 of them... Never seen anything like it.
