But the snide little comments/posts/tweets about the interests people have in recruiting and/or Renardo Sidney are wearing thin. Meanwhile we are treated to tweet after tweet on the Australian Open.

The latest example:
<span class="status-body">kyleveazey

<span class="actions"></span><span class="entry-content">Our fairly routine
story on recruiting this morning has 107 comments on it already. The
recruiting phenomenon is really amazing to watch.</span></span>

We get it Kyle. You are too esoteric to enjoy reporting on trivialities like recruiting and eligibility.

to be official? I take his twitter feed to be BS. His blog to be a little more official and if it gets printed, the most official.

One thing I have noticed - Veazey is giving a lot more recruiting info. It's almost becoming like a fan site.

He always has smartass stuff to say and thrives on being a dickhead. That explains why folks either love him or hate him. Depends on your sense of humor.

The recruiting phenomenon IS interesting to watch.<div>
</div><div>Besides- he has a personal account and one that is focused on his beat. Perhaps you should switch to the other if you don't like seeing random crap.</div><div>

In and of itself, it is not snide. After two years of similar comments on the blog, it is. He's made his point. He doesn't like recruiting and doesn't see it as news, even if many of his readers want the information. I don't necessarily think it is his job to report on how many visitors we had in this weekend and so forth and so on. BDJ and Gene can handle that. He just makes his distaste for it really well known. Thank you for recognizing my snideness. It's one of my most endearing qualities. Just ask Costanza.

DS - I just recently started paying attention to his tweets. Most of the comments in the past have been from the blog. I like the random crap he tweets most of the time.

Last year's Veazey-spam about Dixon's DUI is going to be replaced with tittygate spam. We'll hear about it repeatedly. Nearly every article about those players as they get better and make plays in 2010 is going to have this in the first or last paragraph, "(insert name) was involved in January's strip club scandal in which the university denied ".

I was opposed to Veazey'shiring for only one reason - his UM background. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and he slowly won me over. Lately, however, it has certainly seemed like there was a hidden agenda all along. Running with a facebook story is ridiculous.

you know something that actually DOES affect a team's eventual performance on the field, he spent countless hours writing repeated stories and blog entries on an MSU player who got who got pulled over by a cop, a recruit that went to a local club or JWS's presence at a special teams drill. Veazey seems to be all over the TMZ type stuff but then acts like recruiting is something beneath him.

I'm seeing eye-to-eye with someone on this. I was amazed at the number of people on here who were taking up for the kid (Veazey)while he ranthat story. I'm sure it won't take long for this to be locked up either. Man love for Veazey to the rescue!

things than the CL. In order to do that, he may feel that he has to print a lot of crap that he feels may get him some attention elsewhere, and nothing people like better than a good scandal...it's called modern journalism. For example, ESPN picked up on his prattle about tittygate. He has no allegiance to State, nor should he. At the same time, he shouldn't be negative about reporting either. The question is: "What is newsworthy to report?" His answer to that may be different from mine or yours or a lot of others.

He is not a dickhead.

I am a huge dickhead. In an alternate universe in which I am not an OM alum or fan and end up covering MSU as a journalist (or OM for that matter) for the Ledger, I would be an insufferable, smarmy prick by comparison.

You guys have to realize - you built an entire kingdom to escape Gene's Page and the theatrics therein. You've publicly separated yourself from a large - nay, the majority - of MSU fans online. We did it too at Nafoom. Kyle is not so lucky. He wakes up everyday in Starkville and must endure the worst of the worst.

Certainly this behavior is in no way inherent to MSU - there are a bevvy of "Good Rebels" I'd like to actually set on fire during recruiting season - but remember that Kyle is the top beat writer for a SEC program. He deals with yahoos of extreme levels in multitudes you can't fathom.

That being said, I dog him out for his genuine fandom of tennis and golf, two of the most boring recreational sports known to man. Seriously, bass fishing becomes the 7th game of the World Series by comparison.

I think he's actually happy in Starkville. Will he move on eventually? Probably, but he's not just stirring **** up hoping that someone will see his work and give him a big raise and a new job.

I wonder if ESPN would have picked up on tittygate had the retarded recruits NOT POSTED IT ON FACEBOOK.

a lot of money with the CL, but also don't know what a "lot of money" is for a beat writer's job nowadays. He's mentioned before that he's a big fan of the NY Times. Nothing wrong with that either. Some of these guys move out of sports coverage into other areas....just saying that he has to do something to get noticed, and maybe that's what he's trying to do. Any kind of attention is sometimes better than none....dog eat dog world and highly competitive in newspaper reporting.

I have a similar sense of humor. Some folks like it, some don't. He comes across that way at times. He makes comments at times that he has to know is going to piss people off. It's like he enjoys telling people he doesn't give a ****.

I gave the dude the benefit of the doubt as well, as I never subscribed to the CL conspiracy theories on GP. Veazey, though, likes to shed MState in a negative light and there's no secret about it. Why DS and a few others can't see this, is beyond me. And how anyone can follow this tool's twitter feed is also beyond me. During a basketball game, the douchebag can't go 2 minutes without sending something out. I don't need 159 tweets during the course of a game letting me know how Stans just looked at a ref in a mean way. Maybe that's just me though.

and yea I have met him in real life and yea he is just as smug and arrogant as he sounds in print. I can't wait till we get another beat writer. I miss Sekou Smith. Here is his twitter in case anybody wants to catch up with the best beat writer in MSU history -http://twitter.com/sekousmith01

Have you ever realized he is just doing his job? and KV is correct in covering recruiting, its a 24/7 job, thats why there are sites like this one and others...and has stated before his twitter account is his personal one not one from the CL, he does a great job keeping everyone informed and actually the tittygate broke on here before he ever mentioned a word on it. I seriously doubt he is out to try and spit in states face or do anything to put state in a bad light, the whole pony story would have come about weather he had said something or not. He does a damn good job and is a hell of alot better then that brandt guy. Just get over the whole thing and look forward to the rest of basketball season, signing day and beginning of baseball.
