I would blame the dumb *** coach....

....and the answer to #2 is Auburn. And it isn't even close

Auburn, Auburn, Auburn. All day.

Did I mention Auburn?

Can't blame the AD when a high-profile coach is the primary decision maker of what he does during his days off. Petrino is the guy to point fingers at.

I put most, if not all, blame on Petrino. His stupidity and carelessness put AR's AD in an almost winless situation. We don't know how easy/hard it was to fill that position, given the timeframe, but my guess is he couldn't have done too much better. Also, their defense just sucks, with or without Petrino, and that's their major problem.

Regardless of Smith's productivity thus far, Petrino laid the groundwork for this **** storm.

Well Hog, I have profound respect for your AD. There was no hesitation, no cover up, he did it EXACTLY right. The blame all lies on Petrino.

Auburn - by far

AD first for not keeping the coach in check and then the former coach.
It will forever more be Bama.

Did your interim head coach really not shake hands with the ULM coach after

The Arky game? If that's the case he should have been fired immediately.

I come in harm and hatred**

The blame starts with Bobby Petrino for putting you in a bad situation by putting himself in a situation to be fired over the summer. I think your AD made a mistake by hiring John L Smith though. What was the purpose? You're not going to hire him anyway. Save the money for the next coach and make one of the coordinators the interim coach. That actually happened at Ole Miss in 1994. They were racked by the NCAA with sanctions and they fired Billy Brewer in the summer, but instead of hiring someone as the head coach, they just made their DC Joe Lee Dunn the interim head coach and then eventually hired Tommy Tuberville. Yeah- they went 4-7, but it was a no win situation.

Unfortunately for you, there was no way that this was going to be a good situation.

I hate Auburn as well. I hope they can't buy Chizek out. That's how bad I hate them.

Considering the timing of things

Blame former coach, AD gets a pass to hire a new coach for next season.

Kudos for Smith only getting a 10 Mo. contract.

Petrino without a doubt. And even then, he might have survived had he not lied about the whole thing (but that's doubtful since the girl was his employee, and he seems to have basically hired her so the State of Arkansas could pay for his fun).

And I don't literally hate any other team in the SEC ... but my least favorite is Alabama, surpassing even Ole Miss. It's because I live in Alabama and have to live with the Alabama fans on a daily basis. And they are all over the place.

Arkansas... more than UMiss

But that's for personal reasons. I always make the Ark/State game. When in LR, I ALWAYS get treated like crap. Last year, as my 10 year old son and I left war memorial, we were cussed by no less than three groups of drunk fans as we tried to leave the game. One group called my child a "***" because he had a State sweatshirt on - A grown man got in my kid's face and screamed to where spittle hit his ball cap. I have never had to comfort my child after a game more than then (I'm including games he lost in peewee football).

Two years previous, I was hanging out with my buddy (Ark grad) outside war memorial for that game, then I got to watch my cowbell punted no less than 20 yards by a hog fan who saw it on the ground and just figured kicking someone's belongings is his Clinton-given right.

While I got my undergrad at State, I got a M.A. and J.D. from the Univ of Tulsa. In 2008, I was on my second deployment in Iraq. I hung a TU flag outside of my room. I happen to be on patrol when Ark and Tulsa played that year. When I returned, my TU flag was covered in motor oil "Soooeee pig" (or something to that effect).

So, yes, long-winded, and nothing personal to you, but I hope you guys never win again.

I don't see how they can keep John L Smith in check

He's basically taking a paid 10 month vacation to the Ozarks. What does he care if they lose to Louisiana-Monroe and get beat down by Bama? Heck, if he cared about winning he would have run the ball against Louisiana-Monroe and gotten the heck out of there with a win. Instead, he keeps taking shots downfield with a struggling back-up QB. Then again, maybe he's just an idiot. Even Croom would have managed that situation better- probably. Assuming he scored that many points of course.

Always hated UPig 2nd to UMiss...

The way your team literally quit against LA-Monroe perfectly symbolized everything I've always suspected about your program.

To see what is happening to your football program brings my heart great joy.

My advice would be to leave the SEC & join the Big 12 (or whatever they are calling it this week).

Arkansas State can take your place.

Petrino's fault.

What are people in Arkansas saying about Arkansas State? I am hearing they want to be the next Boise. Planning upgrades and stuff to help make that happen.

IMO the only blame that Long deserves is that he rolled the dice with Petrino in the first place... It was always going to be feast AND famine at some point. The famine just hit earlier than expected...

Games in Little Rock seem to bring out a different Arkansas fanbase, as opposed to the one present most of the time in Fayetteville. I have been twice to games in Little Rock, and will never go back. It is filled with walk-on, sidewalk, redneck alumni who seem to feel they need to try extra-hard in bringing out their inner-douchebaggery in order to earn status as a real Razorback fan. Sounds exactly like what you've experienced too.

I've had good experiences going to games in Fayetteville where the folks seem nicer and more hospitable. I'm sure there are exceptions everywhere.

I don't really hate Arkansas; I live here, but it's just such a myopic state. Most folks here don't know the difference between State and Ole Miss, and most can't tell you anything about what's going on in the SEC if it doesn't deal with Arkansas.

You sure you weren't at LSU?

I haven't been to LSU since 1988 and even though I was twelve, I still remember the drunk swamp rats acting like children cussing and screaming because all they have in life besides LSU football is a raft built out of sticks and a fat *** wife that they dread 17ing.

Petrino. Hiring John L. was/is retarded though. I hate all SEC West teams but I have a special hate for Bama. I 17ing despise Alabama. Quickly climbing the ranks of the hated is Tennessee. We don't play them as much as the West teams but if it's true they went crying to the NCAA about us than well what choice does my hate have?

I knew it wasn't Baton Rouge, because I didn't smell corndogs.

But yeah, LSU is pretty vile too. Went once and had cups thrown at me, but unlike Louisiana, EVERYONE in Arkansas is a hog fan. From West Memphis to Fort Smith... they are completely intolerable as a fanbase because all the state has going for them is the one university.

astate and gus are mostly just blowing wind, but they have been on a huge election campiagn style tour of central and southern parts of the state trying to steal as many talented in state recruits from ua as possible, and with the situation in fayetteville who knows, but i doubt they materialize into any more than a quality sun belt team which is enough to beat the ua this year so gus can take pride in that at least

I cant blame you about the 39th its the biggest bunch of redneck good ole boys ive ever seen. On another note a true story is that after katrina alot of lsu refugees would dress in our colors and harass ppl to make us look bad they also go on ours and other teams boards with handles that make them sound like hog fans to say dumb shite mizzou fans do the same to kansas and okie not saying thats what happened to you but it does happen

It has to be that politically correct AD. Hell preachers 17 their secretaries and receive forgiveness. It was a grown man and a grown woman. He didn't make her do it. Sure she worked under him (literally), but it was a low-level job. It's not like he kept some smart, highly skilled, fat chick from experiencing her dream career. If *** can get our offense working like Petrino had Arkansas', he could borrow my d**k and 17 every woman 18 & older in Starkville.

You have to blame the former coach. What is your AD supposed to do? Just about everyone who follows college football knew that Arkansas was dangerous and could make a run at a BCS game. There is no way that you allow those expectations to get flushed down the drain.

There wasn't a capable replacement at that time. If you try to make a permanent hire at that time, it would have been beneath what the job normally would command. He made the best out of a really, really bad situation.

Dumb question...but why in the world are all of you bringing you young children to hellholes like Little Rock and Baton Rouge wearing rival gear? I took my dear, sweet, gray-haired old mother to Auburn, but that was in 2005 when Croom was corching, and everybody had pity on us. I'd NEVER consider taking her to Baton Rouge, Little Rock, Oxford (for the egg bowl).

You go into a rival's stadium, you better be wearing a flak vest, steel-toed shoes, brass knuckles, and a shiv (ie, your typical Raiders or Eagles fan).

I blame the guy that picked them up on the side of the road. Had that been me, it would still be a secret. Arkansas would be contending for the West, Petrino would still be getting his side tail, and I'd be a lot richer.

Reply fail. I don't know why this went under Mutts post.
