But if "getting it" and using marketing tactics that go beyond what the Mooreville PTA would do for a bake sale, I give a resounding kudos to your athletic director for directing his employees to work to market your athletic programs.

I just watched a thirty second commercial, from the comfort of my living room in Oxford no less, encouraging "everyone" to come to Starkville to see the baseball game and the annual spring football game. To purchase said advertising, one of his employees had to actually call someone, and choose to allocate resources to broadcast the commercial in Ole Miss' own backyard. The cable company here sells advertising by market. Oxford is its own market.

GASP!!!!

Reaching out to your fanbase AND others in an effort to bring revenue and attention to Mississippi State's teams. What an absolutely genius idea. Who ever would have thought of that?

Couple that with the admittedly awesome billboard that y'all had up near Batesville for season ticket sales last year, and I would say that I haven't felt this sort of envy of Mississippi State since I boycotted the Final Four in the mid-90's. I now have added him to Whit Hughes and Rob Morgan to create a triumvirate of spite relative to MSU athletics.

At how many State fans live in Oxford. We have a decent caravan that leaves town every Saturday. We tried to convince them to add Oxford as a stop on Mullen's tour through the state when he was hired (mostly because it would be funny).. the AD office thought it would be in poor taste and potentially dangerous (not physically, but you don't want a crowd to heckle the new coach).

is how incompetent our AD was before. So, to us, this is a big deal - actually marketing AT ALL.

I am jealous. Our athletic director wouldn't spend the $7 per spot for fear of not being able to replace one of those pricey CFL bulb's in the women's rife coach's office.

and that was to keep MSU the poor SEC whipping boy who got lucky every now and then for cheap. Very competent indeed with the old school MSU way of doing things.

GB actually pulled out in front of me the other day in front of the music store and Ruby Tuesday. I was about to do the usual (flip off and mouth FU) but when I realized it was him, I just waved. He is tearing up the Hattiesburg market too.
