You better plan on starting some freshmens this season then, because the guys coming back sure know how to do it.

Seriously though, I think he will keep Hood and all but maybe 1 of the signees, and we will see good effort next year. I can live with that year 1. Get a good recruiting class the next year to go with the experienced Sophmores, and maybe he can begin building a winner.

"I don't know how to lose" was only half the statement. He mentally added, "but I am about to find out."

There will be nothing wrong with Hood as the 1st scoring option on the team. He was overshadowed this year by an all-star Junior, but as a Freshman, Rodney was one of the most valuable parts of our team.

He didn't go into long slumps, have discipline issues, or get lazy on defense. With someone actually teaching him basketball and running plays for him this year, expect Hood to be in consideration for an all-SEC selection.

It's going to be a down year, but if Ray can instill a sense of discipline we havn't had in years into a clean-slate of a team, we should expect to grab a few upset effort-wins, instead of pissing away bad losses.

First 16 games: 33.9 min/game, 12.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 50% from the floor, 44% from three, 59% FT
Last 16 games: 31.9 min/game, 7.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 37% from the floor, 30% from three, 75% FT

I love Rodney as a player and want him to stay, but he was simply not the same player the last half of the season. Either he was in a slump the second half, or he was playing far better than his abilities in the first half. I think it was the former. I agree with the rest of your post. The only time all year I was disappointed in Rodney was at Auburn when he went 3-12 from the floor including 1-8 from three and picked up a technical foul. But everyone has off nights. If he stays, he's the leader of the team until the day he plays his last game.

... the lack of conditioning our team had finally caught up with a true freshman and his production slumped a bit as the season wore on after averaging the 3rd most minutes of any player in the SEC.

I say that as close to a sure thing as you can get. Losing Hood allowed Kidd-Gilchrist to guard Dee, so it effectively wiped out 2 of our starting 5. Plus with Hood out, we had no one athletic enough to defend MKG
