I don't think a bunt would have worked in the 9th.

They were playing in and ready for that. I think that the key error was sending our slowest baserunner home in one of the early innings.

It was just one of those screw-up after screw-up games. That's baseball. And it really is. You can't shoot the coach every time a move doesn't pan out. Cohen did a great job this season. He'll only get better.

The suicide if you get the ball on the ground is unstoppable. I think that situation called for at least trying it if we felt we could not get the safety down.

If samford was playing so close that a safety would not work then they were taking a huge gamble being that the go ahead run was on second.

One can always point to numerous plays that ultimately contributed to our demise but the two crucial ones were Frost's throwing error and Henderson's K. Those two were absolutely devastating.

If we bunt there and score, we most likely enter the Bottom of the 9th tied. With our hitting, I don't like our chances of winning it in extras.

It was obviously a terrible at-bat, but a fly ball (and possibly a ground ball) in that situation scores a run just as a bunt does. And with the infield in, a sharp ground ball has a good chance of getting through and plating the winning run. Obviously the strike-out was brutal in that situation, but I think swinging away was a good call there.

Your 2 hole hitter has to be able to put the ball in play. With the infield in anything not right at 'em gets it done. Terrible, terrible at bat. Then Brownlee, who had PH for Porter in the 7th to get the coveted L-R matchup, put himself in an 0-1 hole by swinging a ball that bounced a foot in front of the plate.
