In 1980 State was 4-1 to start the season (including a win over Tech in Starkville) and only a 7-point road loss to Florida to start the season. USM was coming to Scott Field for homecoming and no one was giving the Golden Eagles a chance against the Bulldogs' high powered offense and stifling defense. Southern then went out and pasted a 42-14 shellacking on the Dogs that I remembered left everyone there puzzled.<div>
</div><div>The seniors of that team got together afterwards and had a true "find your desire" moment - then went out and rolled through the rest of the schedule (Miami, Auburn, Bama [then #1], LSU, and the Bears). The only other loss of the season was yo Nebraska in the Sun Bowl.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm hoping what we saw Saturday was the "find your desire" moment in this year's season. I recognize one of the big differences here is that we had to play two of the toughest opponents early in the season rather then later. I wonder if there is anyone on the squad now who wants to reach up there again. We will see if someone on this team can create that.</div><div>
