I feel bad for Alabama's kicker

Only because he's going to get a brick thrown through his window.

I have a feeling that Alabama is going to start recruiting special teams a lot more aggressively going forward.

till you get it.
Kickers tend to be 17ed up. Head cases.
Bama had two kickers, a less than 40, and a 40+
looks like they were not sure who to use.

that position. Punt the ball and pin LSU back. Asking for three successful kicks of nearly yds each is asking a lot.

That's why I'm an advocate in making them walk-on and then giving the best a scholarship.

At the same time, LSU finds adequate kickers, heck- we find adequate kickers for the most part sans the Croom era. Alabama should be able to do the same. There has to be some kid over in Birmingham that plays soccer really well that is a Bama fan.

BTW- I think it hurts evaluating kickers in high school because they can use tees.

Didn't only miss one that he should have made? The other misses were really long. And one of the long misses was kicked by the short-range kicker (great move, Saban).<div>
</div><div>I have to wonder if Saban has some of Spurrier's shortcomings - in that if you frustrate him, he'll make some baddecisions. He put that short-range kicker in after the other kicker missed a makeable one and a 50 yarder.</div><div>

he just outcoached Nick Saban tonight. Saban should have known his long FG kicker sucked. And WTF was he doing having a guy who's longest FG of the year was 37 yards try one from 49? If Saban just punts the ball instead of trying those long FGs, he probably wins the game.

It's not like he just had a bad game. He just had his ordinary game. I kept asking myself why in the world does Saban keep trotting him out there? It's not like he was missing close either. All 3 of those misses were way off. And for a "long FG kicker" he didn't even get the ball to the back of the end zone on 2 of the kicks.</p>

that they didn't try to pooch punt it at least once with the way their defense was playing. Maybe the guy can't do it.

The play where you line up in the FG formation and then you direct snap it to the kicker and he pooches it- that's what I thought they might do.
