I feel even worse for rettig. He has not been given a fair shake and you could see the frustration when he came out.

I think flood is scared. He knows that if he leaves Rettig in and he does well he will be proven an idiot for being so stubborn all year so he rather leave an injured laviano out to dry and run the ball than risk being proven for the buffoon he actually is.

Yep one a few second situation of booze, which were actually directed the coaching staff, are far outweighed by a season of frustration sitting behind an inferior player

Lavi actually had a decent game

21/33 344td 4 TDs 1 INT
He had a great 1st half (12-14, 200 yards, 3 TDs).

He had a mediocre at best 2nd half: 9-19, 144 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Most of that (I think) was in the 4th Q. The 3rd Q was awful all-around: play calling and execution.

And how exactly does anyone know if Rettig got a "fair shake?" So it's absolutely impossible that Laviano won the job in spring practice fair and square and held it through fall camp? And while many teams do change quarterbacks, many others do not. Is it because they know what they have on the bench? Or what they don't have?

I have no idea if Rettig is an improvement over Laviano. If Rettig was so obviously superior, why didn't LSU see it?

There are plenty of reasons to fire Flood, but hypotheticals and speculation are not among them.

Besides, next year, whoever is the quarterback will have a new coach and a new offensive coordinator, so we won't know the answers then, either. Or ever. I'll worry about how the starting QB does when he takes the field next season, whoever it is.

Sorry he got booed. Can't force that throw up 31-13. Momentum changed after that. And Bergin wide open and throws the ball at his head.

Most of them have looked decent on paper. Its more of a "you have to see it to believe it" type of thing -- just like Flood's body of work as a head coach.
