Yes. Because when I think fundraising, I definitely think Tom Brands. He’s really good at relationships and boot licking. Right up his alley.
He was able to raise $30 million+ for the new facility.
I guess you can give that credit to MStar if you want. But they are not Forrest or Lockett level recruit. Well maybe Kemdawg was. Injuries kept him from being a giant in the sport.

Has JB said he wants to coach? What about putting him in as the HEAD HWC COACH!?!?!? As someone above said, the club is on the upswing right now. Add a couple of key additions, and somehow get the combined club guys AND girls into the mix of bringing in DONORS!!!
I STILL do NOT understand why the girls are not bringing in B1G $$$$$ to the club. I also do NOT understand why this is not something that is talked about more? With the teams success and their individual success internationally, one MIGHT think a LADY CEO or MANY might be brought in as donors?
It can easily be made into a DYNASTY right now, and any person/company could have their name on it!!!! USA/OLYMPIC TEAM CHAMPIONS etc.... Maybe not as B1G as Hockey??? Just look at how the USA teams became HUGE news all over the place though!!! Wouldn't a lot of companies what PROUD SPONSOR of OLYMPIC TEAM CHAMPIONS USA WRESTLING on their walls. GOLD medals on display, photos, LADIES giving appearances etc....
With enough money, you can start to bring in just about EVERYONE on the ladies side especially IF you had JB running it with TERRY over seeing it and just keep building off it!!!

This may be my very first time defending Iron, but you do realize HWC is Hawkeye Wrestling Club and NOT Hawkeye Women's Club, correct? He brought up getting women back into that club to help strengthen the club as a whole, but he sure as hell wasn't saying be the women's coach ONLY...

It won’t be at Iowa since we have a young female AD. To fire her would take an act of God. She will have to move on to another job she wants more for Spencer to ever be our AD, but I’m sure many other doors at our competitors will be open.
Agree, actually more successful college wrestler than Taylor or Burroughs, but not quite as big a name since his freestyle career went nowhere. But a big enough name, and the Cael coaching tree is a huge draw for recruits, just like Gable descendants like TnT were back in the day. Has a good personality and has good relationship with Spencer and I think Kem even tho they were adversaries in college until Kem bumped up 2 weights. Probably would be willing to run a pretty clean program also.
Are you serious? You don't think guys with Olympic aspirations would be enticed to wrestle at a school that is directly affiliated with an RTC that JB is coaching?
Mind you, I get that the ultimate goal would be JB as the college coach. But, with all the rumors that he has shown no interest in college coaching, MAYBE you could at least get him to coach the RTC. That is probably doubtful as well, but it sure as hell would be a SERIOUS boost in all aspects...

This is a B1G question because IF for some reason our coaches have to meet certain standards that others are not following??? Then IOWA is playing from behind and it will take EVEN MORE than just a new coach or coaches etc.....
Why ANY coach or ANY person involved with the team could not go out and recruit as long as they are not breaking any RECRUITING rules, would be beyond me!?!??
That being said, having JB as a COACH who recruits could at least meet, talk with on a recruiting visit might be enough to swing some STUDS in our favor alone!!!
AGAIN, I am not an insider who knows WTF is going on!!! Above talks about the 30 MIL for the new facility are brought up. What have we seen with that????? I have seen a "aircraft hanger" sized room!!!! OK, why are the F-in bikes and sheet on the F-in floor next to the mats????? How do you not build a raised platform with a padded wall????
Put the sheet up there and have another 1/2 wall with a rail so the F-in stuff and wrestlers don't fall off AND you could have incorporated, PULL UP BARS, APE HANGERS, BANDS for RUN OUTS and MUCH MORE!!!!
Has anyone seen any STATE of the ART stuff in this F-in facility!?!?!?! Do they have saunas/steam room/cold plunge pool, waterless massage tables???? What about the weight room, what is NEW in there???? Do they have, specialty bars, sleds, reverse hyper, GHR, GRIP equipment????

He can't recruit. Can't call, visit, etc. And he can't coach them in college practices. So again, a complete waste of a resource.
And we can all stop with the "rumors" that he said he isn't interested in coaching college. He literally just did an interview (and it's been posted here multiple times) that he would absolutely coach college if the program had the resources. This was after he visited DT at okiest this past summer.

I haven't watched any JB videos recently and even when I am watching wrestling matches where he is a commentator, I rarely pay attention to what ANY commentators say. If so, I understand your argument. But, Iron wasn't operating under that premise.
Put it this way, IF JB was unwilling to be the head coach, would you honestly pass on him if he said he would be the HWC coach instead? If that was the best you could get from him, how in the HELL would you turn that down???
With that said, I am still behind Brands but, a truly willing to coach JB would definitely be at the top of my list if I HAD TO remove the Brands. I said Nolf earlier in that scenario, simply because I didn't believe JB would go all in. If you could sign JB to a BINDING contract, so he couldn't jump to Nebraska if Manning retires a year or 2 after, I would definitely go after him. Mind you, that is ONLY if I was forced to. I am still firmly in the Brands corner and am happy I will NEVER be close to any position that would play ANY part in that change...
Bob claimed Iowa allocated $0 of revenue share to wrestling. IA ST allocated $1mil/yr, thought PSU said they allocated 1.5 mil/yr. Who cares what Okyst allocated, they have a billionaire in their back pocket. If this allocation doesn’t change for us, they will never attract a decent coach and TnT will definitely fail unless Bob is able to poney up what the university won’t.
If I was Bob, I wouldn't like this arrangement. Why should it be his responsibility to pay when the school doesn't.
If it was me, I'd be willing to throw in $1 for every $10 the school raises through fundraising.
No wealthy female CEO’s and entrepreneurs donate big bucks to women’s sports because nobody really cares about women’s sports, especially other women who are not athletes. We had a blip here in women’s basketball with Clark as did the WNBA, but that is fading fast here, and the jealousy of the other players in the WNBA has been destroying her positive influence on getting more fan for that league. Even people who like Clark got turned off by these dirty jealous players and refuse to support the league they dominate. Our ladies did draw bigger home crowds than all the other men’s wrestling programs, but hasn’t moved the needle helping bring more money into the wrestling program or improving men’s recruiting success. We had to cut back the space in the new facility so the women’s team could have their own locker room, shower, hot and cold tub, etc…. I’m assuming they share the weight room.
We were told Tom fired Zadick to bring Morningstar in because of his recruiting ability. Terry seems to be a big player in the recruiting process, and seemed to be the big factor in landing Lee and Arnold. Tom personally got Kem back on board when it didn’t look good after his visit. Terry was there with Star shoveling snow as 5 am for Bassett’s shortly before he committed. Just don’t see him as this great recruiter he was brought in to be.

I don't know???? I have to admit, MOST female sports SUCK and I have taken heat for it in the past and I guess I will again here? Facts are facts though!!!! This being said, some lady with B1G $$$$ you might think could benefit from what would be a small donation of say a few MIL.

My guess is that, like FM, she moves to terminate Brands. She does not impress me as a Director that will not decisively act when it is warranted.
