I hate to admit it... but Ole Miss is tremendously improved

Even though Bama is still clearly better, I am really impressed with the effort that Ole Miss has been playing with tonight. Effort was one of the main things they lacked last season. They seriously look like they believe they can win a few games this season and despite what all the naysayers want to say, that can take a team a decent ways.

Yeah, they are improved. Gotta be impressed with how the D has held their own even though they're giving up 50 lbs per man. Auburn/OM is going to be quite a battle in Oxford.

They are much better coached.

They will win a game or two they shouldn't this year...

Careful, the homers will be here in short order to tell you it is not possible. They will be angry you even suggested that OM trying hard and being better coached is a way for a team to improve.

I know... what I don't get is... some of those asshats feel that you're going against State if you give Ole Miss any credit. 17 that ****... just call it how it is and be done with it.

I am very impressed with the Rebels

It's like night and day compared to last year's team. Freeze has done a good job so far and they are giving Alabama the best game they've had all year. We had better come ready to play in Oxford this year or we will be eating a **** ton of crow on Thanksgiving weekend.

I will say they are far improved, mainly because of effort. The talent they had last year is very similar but the effort is far and above better. However, i do get the feeling Bama was not up for this game. At least nowhere near as much as OM

One good thing you can still take from this game

is that Wallace is really not a good QB. If Ole Miss had a good QB, this Freeze offense could be lethal. Their defense looks better but they are still ridiculously undersized, which will make it hard for them down the stretch.

That's the same way I was looking at it too. They still don't really intimidate me too much, but because of seeing how they are playing with so much effort has me expecting an extremely physical game come thanksgiving.

I honestly don't see 3 more wins outside of the realm of possibility. Even though Arkansas is more talented, Ole Miss seriously looks like the much better team. They look a bit better than Vandy too and seem to be pretty close with Auburn. If they're fighting for bowl eligibility by the time we get to Oxford, that might be something to be concerned about.

the one thing makes them a hella lot better

just playing with effort for most of the game instead of Ole Miss just laying down whenever they got behind; as was the case the past few seasons. In that respect, Bucky deserves a ton of credit. I would like to see if this team still plays the same way in late October through the Egg Bowl.

Never saw an ounce of emotion or jubilation from any of the Bama players after any play. They've looked indifferent from the opening kick and just wanted to get this one over with. Even with the TD's they scored they never showed much emotion.

This was Bama at 65% throttle.

Hugh Freeze is a good football coach. He's a great motivator. Nutt quit and the last two seasons were not indicative of the talent on the roster. Depth is their biggest issue followed by size. They have good overall team speed, but they will be out-physicaled in the trenches.

I was really hoping they would suck again this year. I'm telling, Oxford is an absolutely unbearable place to live right now. The fans believe they should finish 8-4 and go to a Cotton Bowl this year, but of course Mississippi State is waaaay over-rated.

I can now see six wins as a remote possibility. 8 is a joke

I'm still calling for five, but we are a much better team and play with effort. Freeze has exceeded my expectations so far, but lets talk again in four years. Moral victories are only acceptable in your first year or two. Anyone saying we win 8, well, ask for their dealer's number, I want some of what they have.

I'm thinking 6 at moment.

If you played auburn, vandy, or arky today, you would have a solid shot at all 3. A&M, UGA, and LSU are losses. If you guys are at 5 or 6 Ws by Egg Bowl time, it will set up to be a wild one.

5 likely. Good shot at 6.

A certain former Rebel offensive lineman turned magazine/radio station owner told me last week that 8 wins is easily attainable. All but guaranteed wins over A&M, Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi State. I realize he has a radio station and magazine to push, but this was in a private conversation away from the radio and the print press. I know a couple others that think eight wins are possible, but don't necessarily expect it.

I predicted 3-9. Any other wins this year is really just icing on the cake for me. I -now- think we should beat Arkansas and have a good shot at Auburn and maybe Vandy. I don't think we'll beat A&M, LSU, or you guys.

Absolutely.

The west is as vulnerable as I ever can remember it being. Bama and LSU are still the clear favorites, but their are many wins up for grabs.

Based on today, the bears could be 6-5 going into the Egg game. But it's a long way until that game. AU is showing signs of improving. Vandy is a possible win, but not a given. Ark is a win. So who knows.........but they do look much better than last year.

I thought Ole Miss biggest mistake was trying to run the up-tempo Oregon style offense in the first half before getting a few first downs. I don't think that frantic pace helps your team on the first series of a drive and it really hurts your defense when you go 3 and out.

They are without doubt a much better football team under Freezus. He has done

a nice job. Anyone that can't admit they are better is just being a homer. Give credit where
credit is due. Now, we better get our **** together and start playing with a sense of urgency.

I didnt get to see much of the game. How did Bama do in passing long as the game went on? Sounds like OM jammed the box with linebackers early preventing the run and playing safeties deep to prevent the big homerun ball.

If that is what they actually did, it sounds like bama's strategy should have been to throw midrange passes underneath coverage. Ala Troy.

Do you really hate to admit it? I mean, you started a thread to admit it.
