I didnt get to see much of the game. How did Bama do in passing long as the game went on? Sounds like OM jammed the box with linebackers early preventing the run and playing safeties deep to prevent the big homerun ball.

If that is what they actually did, it sounds like bama's strategy should have been to throw midrange passes underneath coverage. Ala Troy.


Bama did mostly throw underneath stuff. Usually slow developing crossing routes. They threw only as much as they needed to and then didn't get flashy with it. Typical Bama football.

A lot of one v one coverage both man and zone on the WRs. Stacked with SS and LBs near the LOS on run plays and 1st down. Covered underneath routes with the pulled up S, which hurt on 3rd and medium. Bama essentially ineffective on 3rd and 8+. Bama threw deep a few times but didn't gain much from it, couple of swatted or dropped balls.
