but going to the Gator Bowl is probably our best chance at a 10 win season, assuming we can put together two decent games against Arky and OM. We obviously need to take care of business the next two weeks. We're better than both of those teams, but we still have to go out and get the job done.

If we go to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, we'll play a Clemson or FSU. If we go to the Gator Bowl, we get a Northwestern or Wisconsin team.

I know everyone wants a more prestigious bowl and I'm all for that... but the allure of recruiting after another bowl win and a 10 win season is enticing.

I would rather go to the Peach, for personal reasons, but either bowl would be outstanding.

I loved our trip to Jacksonville, it is just an expensive trip. Atlanta would be a much easier task for the family this year.

If its the peach, it would prob be Clemson. And there is no need to be afraid of Clemson. The only ranked team they have played this year beat them. That ranked team was FSU.

They were in a fight with auburn to win, beat Ball State, Furman, Georgia tech, Virginia Tech, Duke, Maryland, wake forest, and Boston College. Not exactly murderers row. We would be 9-1 playing that schedule and they 7-3 playing ours. You will see what Clemson is made of against South Carolina.

FSU would be a tougher task but they hold the head to head tie breaker with Clemson for the ACC crown and the Orange Bowl.

Agree...

The Peach isn't any more 'prestigious' than the Gator bowl, other than being one higher on the pecking order and having a tougher opponent for us this particular season. The Gator Bowl is in Florida, and it is on New Year's Day, too. History will remember a New Year's Day bowl, a Big Ten opponent, and hopefully, a 10-win season.

The point I was making... was that I'd rather play Northwestern or Wisconsin for our tenth win... instead of Clemson of FSU. I agree that Clemson is beatable... but they are a better team than those clowns in the Big 10.

I've been looking at numerous bowl projections...

..for the last 2 weeks & 99% of the projections have us in the Gator Bowl. Nobody has us in the Peach Bowl. For what that's worth.

Gator Bowl is aware of how well State travels. They may have been surprised but now they know. State spent a lot of money down there.

Will we duplicate that travel this year though? 2nd time in 3 years to Jax sounds like a good Been there done that **** economy means families stay home. Atlanta is our best option for the fans

Atlanta would be preferable. Probably a little more economical and a change of scenery.

If our fans can't get off their asses and travel to the same spot twice in 3 years, then the Outback Bowl was right about us in 99.

The Big 10 isn't much, but it is a better conference than the ACC. And it's not even close. Last year, the Big 10 was 4-6 in bowl games, including a win over the SEC. The ACC was 1-7. The only reason you might rather play a Big 10 team in a bowl over an ACC team is because 2 of the Big 10s better teams are on probation which moves everyone behind them up in the bowl slots.

Atlanta is an easier trip, but other than the fact that the Peach bowl is one slot higher and it lets us add a new bowl venue to our recent resume, I'd still prefer Jacksonville. I liked everything about Jacksonville other than the drive.

Clemson has a chance of sneaking into a BCS bowl, so the CFA Bowl would potentially be against Georgia Tech or Miami.

Gator Bowl would likely be against Northwestern.

I'm fine with either bowl game. But if you're rooting for Atlanta, you probably need us to win out and hope Clemson beats SC.

I don't want to drive to Jville again...hoping for a closer bowl game

but that means we either go to Peach or fall to Music City, Liberty or Independence. The Peach bowl gets a lot of publicity with it's time slot and the Gator bowl is played on NYD on ESPN 2 at noon which is in a terrible time slot.

I'd rather go to the Peach. I think more MSU fans would go, plus for me I'd have a free place to stay. And the game is inside. The last one was really good when we beat Clemson.

If I recall, when we went to the Peach, we had a record good enough to go to the Outback, but Florida, with a poorer record, was chosen over us. And it was probably based on the potential number of fans attending. Would have played Purdue there, but wound up playing a pretty good Clemson team and winning a close one.

Money is tight right now for a whole lot of people. And it's only getting tighter now that we've officially got 4 more years of the economic disaster called the Obama Administration. I know, I know political post. Doesn't change the facts. Or maybe you missed the markets tanking every day since Tuesday?

Jax is a helluva expensive trip. We'll bring a good crowd regardless, but I'd be highly surprised if it were the same type of crowd we carried 2 years ago. We had "bowl fever" working in our favor that season. Not so much this year.

Lock it up.

It was just as expensive as in 2009 and conditions were arguably worse than they are now. People that didn't have money to take a weekend trip to Florida 2 years ago probably aren't going to have money this time around either.
