I have a question?

Highland Springs hosted a scrimmage with South County this morning. Why would they prohibit even the parents from attending? If there was a compelling reason for this, why would the HSHS AD not communicate this with the AD at South County, and with the Springer community, including the parents and families of the players?

Am I missing something here?

Honestly, I’m not sure I have ever heard of a scrimmage being closed to anyone that wants to attend, especially family members.

I really thought HSHS was better managed than this.

You would have to ask The Activities Director @Hldaniel . Extremely disappointing and the TDale scrimmage is being charged to attend now. With gas prices the way they are,SC parents driving 100miles couldn’t be thrilled with the decision.

I think the only excuse being proffered is simply trying to explain away someone being unprepared, and is now making excuses.

The stated reason:

The coaches agreed, after the teams were on site, to tell the parents, family, and fans that followed their teams out on a hot steamy day that they don’t want the disruption of people in the stands? Really??

If 100 people in a stadium that holds 1000’s is a disruption, then both teams are in deep trouble anyway.

Good evening, both coaches communicated and both were agreement to close it to the public. It was a joint practice and had some scrimmage elements at the end. After it was over both teams fellowshipped over lunch and enjoy one another company. As far as the game vs. Dale being a Benefit Game, this is something we’ve done in the past and wanted to do again. I understand everybody might not be happy about paying to watch a scrimmage but both football programs benefit from the proceeds raised from the game.

I don’t care one way or the other about the decision. Keep it closed. All good!

Not communicating it ahead of time to families (coaches?) and posting on here to act like that’s not important is kinda wack.

Considering there were people that drove all the way down from South County, and people from Highland Springs at the game,to get into Watch, I would say no….there was no communication to fans before the game.
They talk a lot about community and community involvement. Why blind side the community and block them from being A PART OF the this year as opposed from every prior year until now. It seems to strike a chord within the community.
