nobody on here is harboring a desire for Nebraska to lose this week so that Riley gets fired. I was just on the phone with a friend of mine from childhood who lives in Seward and is a fairly good donor who says he wants Nebraska to lose. I knew there were probably people out there who thought this way, but I never thought my friend, who has had skybox seats since 2001 and season tickets since 1980, would think this way.

I kind of let him have a piece of my mind which I regret since he is a great guy, but geez.

I find it depressing

The good thing for Riley is that wins and losses aren't based on fans hopes. The bad thing for Nebraska fans is that wins and losses aren't based on fan hopes.

I'm still hoping we somehow win the West. Sucks losing to NIU obviously but my bar was winning the division this year. So, at least that's still out there as bleak as it may look with how we have played.

I always want to win. I never cared for the Riley hire, but I would never root for him not to succeed. My ego isn't that big and I've invested too much as a fan to ever root against Nebraska. I hope we pull it together and compete for the West. Do I think it happens...no. But I want it to.

The fan base is panicking and it's a mistake imo. I believe you need to give a coach 4 years minimum. Sure there are examples of guys turning it around more quickly than that but those guys generally walked into a situation where the talent was there. The talent was depleted here and the culture was toxic. I do think Cav should be let go and maybe it should have been done last year but circumstances last year left some doubt. Listening to Riley's press conferences the last couple of weeks- he's made it clear that the group he's most disappointed in is the Oline. If we can somehow get that fixed I think we'll be a tough game for anyone on our schedule. Despite the bad loss and spotty play so far, I believe we are not as far away as most think.

Hell no, I want the team to win, always. I want Riley to have great success at Nebraska, I hope it can go that way for him. We'll see.

I seem to recall, before the season, a few on here stating that Riley would be here for 2018 no matter how this season ends up... and I believed it and felt the same way.

If we only win 5 games this year, I will not argue to keep Riley.

I hated Pelini's attitude towards the fans, but I supported him and the team and wanted them to win every game. He won at least 9 games a year... no one cares about 9 wins because it is not a bench mark, but 9 wins is a hell of a lot better than 5 wins.

I hate feeling like I did after the game. I love watching college football, but I couldn't watch it the rest of the day on Saturday. I want my Huskers to win. I want the offense to score some points and the defense to play well so the game is enjoyable for me.

I hope I never want them to lose. I basically read about the Huskers 7 days a week all year long. I invest a lot of time into them. Too much time for me to want them to lose. I will support the team, even if it pisses me off that the offense can't score enough damn points to win a game where the defense gives up 7 points.

I will NEVER cheer for a Nebraska loss. It doesn't make for a fun Saturday when the Huskers lose. On the other hand I have given up the fans who think we are not that far off from being a good team. Those who believe it will take just take a tweak to two to transform the Huskers into a winning team are delusional. Riley and his staff just don't have it in them. Riley shelved Langsdorf's play-calling once before in Corvallis. Danny was sent away to the NFL New York Giants. After a year of detention Mike brought him to Lincoln. To have a situation that didn't work once and then to repeat it again is all Husker fans need to show them Riley lacks the skill and ability needed to run a successful program.

What we fans need to do his remain vocal in our displeasure and lack of confidence with AD Shawn Eichorst and Coach Riley. At the same time we should refrain from being critical of the athletes and to curtail any booing at the games . (Unless it can be clear the booing is directed only at the coaches and Eichorst. I don't know how that can be accomplished).

My biggest issue with the Nebraska fan base is the immaturity level. I have from day 1 tried to look for the positives of the Riley hire. I have found myself in the unenviable position of defending the hire and his moves, even though I never understood the hire nor would I have made the hire myself. However, most of the time, when I look for those positives or find myself defending moves, people want to try and hold it against me. As if by me supporting the coach I am somehow responsible for the hire. I never understood what good it does to come on here and ***** full time about what a mistake it was. What is changing? Either vote with you pocket book and stop going to games, stop buying shirts and hats or open up your pocketbook, become a booster of substance and help make the decisions.

I don't have much inside info, but what I do have has told me that, even though Eichorst said Riley was his first and only choice, that wasn't the case. That he attempted to discuss the job with at least 2 other coaches that wanted no part of the job. Take that for what it's worth. But I do believe this job has a bit of a black widow to it.

I would never openly root against Nebraska and don't understand what that does in the overall scheme of things. Me rooting for Rutgers isn't going to get Riley fired, Riley losing to Rutgers might but the final result of the game doesn't changed based on whether I cheer for Nebraska or not.

Teams, the sum of all their parts, share the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat." The tape shows it. It wasn't pretty. It was agonizing. Coach Riley's picture on the sidelines said it all.

Everyone on this site has had their share of these highs and lows unless they live under a rock.

These kids put on Husker uniforms to represent us. Everyone has a right to voice their opinions here. That's the good side. And yes it's hard to feel good when describing a massive train wreck. Eichorst knows it. Riley knows it. The Cable guy knows it. Turner knows it. Fans know it.

I hope these young men and their coaches know their fans are disappointed with the performance.

I'm not a football expert. I'm a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and have no plans to throw these kids off the bus. I will continue to support them this season.

What happens after the season is for those given the responsibility. I intend to provide my input as most of you will. I hope they run the table. I hope they win the conference championship. I hope....

Whatever gets us a new coach and AD, I support it. This is a dumpster fire. You will feel differently after we win three games this year.

Though I wonder if there are fans (anti-Eichorst / anti-Riley) out there that don't necessarily root for us to lose, but they're okay if we do lose if it means one step closer to Eichorst and/or Riely being gone...

Same could be said for some fans during Bo's last year especially against Iowa...

I am not saying I agree with that argument but I was talking with someone who had that same feeling. He said, "Sometimes you have to rip the band-aid off real fast instead of slowly pulling it." His feeling was if Riley isn't the answer why drag it out.

While I understood his argument and agree with his feeling that Riley is not the answer, openly rooting for the kids to fail is something that seems a little too radical for me.

too early to hope for losses. i remember thinking a couple of bo's games vs iowa that a loss wouldnt be the worst thing if it got him out. losing got the cubs bryant, schwarber, and happ so you cant always be opposed to it if it helps you in the long run.

Win or lose, I'm at a point to where I honestly don't care that much anymore. We need people in charge of the program who know what they're doing and who make the type of decisions that clearly show us that they want the team to compete on the national stage again. I don't think we have that right now.

If the sellout streak coming to an end is what it takes to send a loud enough message, then so be it.
