I don’t know a thing about boats other than the fact that I like to be on them with a case of beer, but I just came here to say good for you.

Life is too short to always find reasons to not do something you love
Yeah, I see a lot of hate on here but I have have 4 neighbors with boats ranging from a fairly cheap pontoon to a 30 ft Scout and they all love them and take them out every weekend they can from April to October. When they are headed out on a weekday and I’m stuck behind my computer I get real envious.

Use the name that was on my 24 foot power boat: BlackWire (means aground)

Wait. Does PK stand for Perdido Key? Holy **** how am I just seeing this.
So, in April, after Poopop and I go play golf, get on the boat with Mobile, then shop with Skipper for dolphin figurines, we are meeting PK at the Foley Texas Roadhouse.
Don’t forget we’re stopping at Bahama Bobs for shrimp and crawfish tacos 🏄🏻🌴
On a side note…bought 1st batch of crawfish, nice big ens, kinda pricey at 6.99 llb but it will go down
(Please not another thread about how eating crawfish is a waste of time)

Not for me. Best day was buying it and worst was the day I sold it. I still kick myself for doing that. 28' pontoon w/Yamaha 115hp, potty on the back, good stereo, gas grill. Lots of good times
That sucks. Pontoons are my favorite too. You can come ride on on the Miss Slippy with me this summer.***

It was great for the kids growing up, they wanted to hang out with us instead of running off and us not knowing where they were, brought their friends with us so we always knew who they were hanging out with too. Kneeboards, innertubes, skiing, we did it all. Kept it in the water at a marina in a covered slip and there were days I hung out at the pier and never even went out and still had a blast fishing socializing, and watching the ever present scenery wall by

Freedom Boat Club!

I was planning to purchase a boat (CC or Bowrider) last year until a couple of friends recommended FBC. It was the best decision I've made. You reserve, pull up, hop on board, and you're done. Returning, you hop off, tip the deckhand, and they take care of cleaning, storing, etc.

I live in PK and have choices to reserve boats from PK (2 min from my house), OB, Gulf Shores, Gulf Breeze, and P'Cola Beach in the immediate area. You can also reserve boats across the country.

Much more cost-effective than owning -- no towing, no storage fees, no clean up after a day out on the water, no maintenance costs. And, you can choose the type of boat you want for the day -- CC, Pontoon, Bowrider, etc.

BTW -- went out this weekend on the ICW and had a great time.

I always heard there are 2 days when being a boat owner makes you the most proud. The day you buy it and the day you sell it.

Who ever said that there are only two good days with a boat wasn’t a boat person. I have to drag my boat 20 miles to the lake and love it every time.

now enjoy all of your brand new friends you didn’t know you had.
Agree 100%, I've never had bad day on my boat.

My neighbor does FBC. I was shocked how many locations they have in the Southeast. Every little town that touches the Gulf and the other side of FL. He uses the hell out of it. We typically do the half day, starting at 9am. Around noon all the kids are fighting and b!tching, so returning the boat is the perfect excuse to end the day. He writes it off as a business expense since he takes clients out. The price is really reasonable. And you don't have the 17 with the boat. It's a helluva business model.

They really are. Their only challenge is most people don't realize how reasonable they are unless they have both owned a boat and paid attention to the total costs and compared it to how much they actually used it. I would guess half of boat owners could charter a boat for the same price per hour that they are actually paying for their boat.

The only ones I have seen have been relatively cheap, like $3k to $5k. But those were not in places like Orange Beach, destin, or south florida. Certainly not nothing, but it would be pretty easy to spend $3,000 in the first year of boat ownership on just storage and insurance.

I have thought about doing them but they're just not great for how we boat right now. Basically weekends only and we have to be able to go when the opportunity arises. Can't really plan ahead and even if we could, it'd be hard for us to commit to just a morning or just an afternoon.

Storage indoors and storing my trailer is $4250 for the next year.

Best 2 Days of a Mans Life. Day he buys a boat, day he sells.

In addition to the current supply chain issues with eggs, we’re evidently also nearing a catastrophic shortage of new-boat-purchase jokes, as well.
