It is disappointing that we're dropping most of our close games. And we had some chances to win this one. "But with what we have on the roster, I don't see how many coaches could have had a better game plan.

Our lack of intensity at the end of the first half and our sloppy play at the beginning of the second half put us in too deep a hole. And we took a lot of bad shots and missed most of them. But we played well in several aspects and we had a chance to win a game in which we were a heavy underdog. We don't have the players to get more inside shots that we need. i thought our defense looked better than it has.

I know there's plenty of call to pack Stans off. I ain't getting into that. He could do some things better, and he seems to not be doing as well as he has in the past. I ain't sure he's totally happy with what he's doing now. I think he's kind of in a funk. But I also think that he'll probably come out of it soon. And I don't lkie our chances of improving our program by throwing him out. I do think we could use a good offensive-minded assistant to draw up plays. And i wish he could get his players to have better control and shot selection. But that's not atypical in basketball in our time.

Tough loss for sure. Stans might not be a great coach, but he is obviously not as bad as most on here would claim. Basketball is just such an easy sport to get mad about... I know from experience. Unlike baseball or football, you can find so many plays, reasons, calls for losing almost any game (I remember in high school, even as a roll player, thinking how many games we would have won if I had not missed a shot). Basketball just lends itself to errors and naysaying.<div>
</div><div>That being said, this sucked.

Here's some of the problems with your post:

1) Our intensity has been an issue for pretty much the whole season. We've played good in some stretches but it's been a long time since we puttogether a good half, must less a good full game. We seem to only be capable of putting together a good 5 minute spurt per half.

2) We take a lot of bad shots EVERY game. Our shot selection is truly putrid and if you watch just about any other Top 40 program outside the SEC you'll quickly realize just how bad it is. (I have no idea why it's a trend in the SEC although we're even worse than most SEC teams)

Now the problem with that is those two problemsare mostly a result of coaching and low basketball IQ by the players. I agree tonight was better but there's a reason we continue to look like a bad basketball teameven though our talent level should put usas a solid Top 30 program.

I like Stans as a person. Great family guy and a decent coach. This team is just very undisciplined at key moments. We had chances to take the lead and either turned the ball over or took some wild shot that never had a chance to go in. One day this team will hopefully a two point basket counts a lot more than a missed three point shot.

We've got good players, but not like we've had in the past like the 2008 team or the 2004-2005 teams. Yet people want the same results. We don't have a big man. And it hurts us badly. We really really really need Sidney. Or even Elgin Bailey.

Stans' coaching hasn't changed, it's always been the same. We just don't have the size we've had in the past.

We're not Sweet 16 material unless we just get lucky. But we're also not as bas as we continue to look out on the floor. Despite playing horrific offense we should have beat Bama and ARK on the road and only lost to a very good Vandy team by 3. When you can play awful and still compete it means you have some raw talent to draw on (or the other teams are awful, which is part of it). I think our talent lands us in the 20-30 range.
