I just drove to Florida, and I want to know how many people respect the concept of the passing lane

The interstate seems like a good microcosm of our society to me. Everyone is so focused on themselves they miss the concept of how traffic should flow. I was always taught to roll out to pass, then get back over. People like different speeds, but if we respect left passing lane, we all get there going our desired speed...safer. Didn't the Eagles do a freaking song about it?

Road work? Two lanes goes to one? Weave cars in....be polite, makes everything move faster. People have to be jerks jam up traffic, jam on their brakes and create delays where there shouldn't be.

City traffic? Four lanes wide in Atlanta, but people zig zagging all over the place, brake lights everywhere....

Aren't we better than this?

Virginia introduced legislation that would make it a $200 fine for driving slow and hindering traffic in the fast lane. I don't think the legislation went very far. One of the local talk show guys talks abut this topic periodically, and he consistently gets callers that say stuff like "these people shouldn't be driving so fast so I'm going to slow them down on purpose" My guess is that's who the legislation was aimed at.

I drove up 81 to the DC area off and on when I lived in the foot of VA. That was the worst I'd seen of left lane drivers.

Depends on the state. In NY, they have a passing lane law and misuse of the passing lane isn't bad around me. But drive to Ohio or PA and it's really bad.

Since this reminded me of my days living in the foot of VA, they had a sign right after you cross into the state on 460 - speed checked by VASCAR. Of course someone changed the v to n. Unchanged the entire 2 years I lived there.

I contended that the biggest adjustment that Huggins would have to make in moving from Ohio to WV was the left passing lane. Ohio people are the worst.

Which they don't actually do anymore because it's so expensive.

I also like the sign saying "radar detectors are illegal" which makes me wonder how many people actually use a radar detector anymore with apps like Waze? Is that another dead or dying industry/product?

Completely agree. It's interesting that they only do it in other states, like it's their mission. FIFO's

Florida has the worst drivers in the country. Hands down.

I thought it was bad in California, but driving on the highway in southern Florida is like playing Russian Roulette.

Once a year, I drive from upstate NY to Long Island for a meeting and have to deal with NYC expressway traffic. Worst drivers I've ever encountered.

Relax, Boom. Those are Ohioans (practically disabled.) Sometimes they have plates from different States, but don't be fooled. Yep, Buckeyes.

Georgia was forced to enact a similar law two years ago. No one enforces it though.
