watching the game, but Forrest Moore looked really good in the fifth. If he can live up to his potential our team is instantly much better. On a side note, he's picked off 3 guys at first through 5 innings.

what were yalls thoughts on 17 trying to pull off that he caught that pop fly when it was so obvious he didnt and the ump backed him up til the replay won the argument?

The umpire has to make a call one way or the other, right or wrong. I think it's BS that an umpire used replay- intentional or otherwise to definatively make the call. If the umpire makes the wrong call, one of the other umpires can over rule him. That's why there's three of them out there. The umpire should have gotten his *** in position to make the call.

If the umpire is out of position and one of our players is in position to possibly get a call to go our way, by all means do it.

That reminds me of a story about two players for the Pirates going out for a fly ball and the second baseman ran into the RF and got knocked out. Pretty sure it was Rennie Stennent. Anyway, the ball fall down in play, and the Pirates SS ran over to the pile, saw the ball laying there and put it into Stennent's glove, and then held Stennent's arm up to the umpire and the batter was called out.

They've got to have the balls to make a call one way or the other, even if they are shielded from the play. It was a great effort too, though.

Another thing that's on the ump is letting a manager throw a fit every half inning without throwing him out. It was almost laughable how often USA coach stormed out of the dugout.

talk about putting it all out there..
he was in FULL dead sprint when he hit the unpadded left field fence
and flipped over it and almost made the catch if it wasnt for the violent landing.
Im surprised he didnt break something.

you could see the ball bounce off the ground.. back into the air and it rose over the fence easy enough to tell the guy had no possession of it. even after the guy had hit pavement.

And speaking of the replay Todd the whole USA team kind of accepted the fact that it was all BS and ran back on the field when they saw how badly that call was originally made by the ump

when you said pop up, I thought that it was one of those balls where the infielder and outfielder's converge and it falls in, and the umpire didn't see it fall in.

Anyway, I'm surprised that the umpire didn't ask the outfielder to show him his glove.
