I just want to add something

I know everyone is hurt today because we lost and of course the way we lost wasn't pretty. However, while I'm as competitive as anyone on this board and hate losing more than you know (ask D@A if I know how to *****), I just want to warn not to judge an MSU team based on a loss to LSU...especially in Baton Rouge. It just happens. Hell, even Miles is now 25-1 in games played on Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium. In 1998, myself and a friend went to Baton Rouge just sure this would be the year we won there since the last time we had seen a victory there in JWS first year in 91. We were afterall, 5-1. However, Joe Lee got lit up like fireworks and we walked to the car grumbling that we were done and we may not winanother game. As you all know, we finished the year winning vs Bama, Ark and UM and I made the drive to Atlanta with Baton Rouge as a distant memory.

All I'm saying is that this series has just been crap for State, even in our decent years. And I know the way we lost last night is the story at hand. Yes we have issues...Yes I know what many of them are as we have read them ad naseum and believe me I have lamented every one of them for the past 24 hours. But if we didn't have major issues, we wouldn't be a near .500 team. And if you thought we were much better than a .500 team prior to the season then you have substance abuse issues to worry about. This program is trying to take steps...and it's gonna be baby steps and the step we REALLY need this year is to find a way to be playing in December. The schedule is about to get better for us. I'm not making excuses or being sheepish or anything such as that because I have been very critical since last night, but I'm also keeping LSU in perspective. Let's get this win over UGA this weekend and we will all have amnesia as we coast to a win vs Alcorn and hopefully vs a Keenum-less Houston team to get to 4-2. If things continue to go like last night did, I understand it's every man for himself. I just wanted to say that we don't need to commit fan suicide over a loss at LSU...hell, see the history for yourself below. And oh..something I noticed that is useless but interesting. Last night's 29 points by LSU was the fewest they have scored vs us since 1999 and the fewest in Baton Rouge since 1997.

That is exactly why I refuse to get upset about yesterday's game. Just like the trip to Bama later this season. We just are not going to win those games....not yet anyway. Call it that "woe is me" attitude butMr. Edain't gonna beat Secretariat in a race.

that god foresaken 4 quarters of 17ed from the beginning football still makes my GD blood boil. jesus tapdancin christ this was also the Winston Churchill say moment for Crooms.

and of course this was my last year on campus and i ended up watching only two games within the stadium. the other games i spent my time in the junction soaking in and enjoyingthe college life fora bit longer without having to deal with the product on the field. i know i should have gone in but some of my best memories of that entire year were while everyone else was giving crooms the boobird treatment. at least thus far mullen is keeping asses in the seats. the rest of this season will tell the tale though. gimmicks like black jerseys and hating on OM will only last so long. we need some Ws.

People are acting like we lost to Vandy on the road. We just lost consecutive games to top 15 teams- including once on the road.

I think Georgia is a swing game that could go either way, and honestly our best chance of the three to win. Even if we don't, we have casual racism week coming up with Alcorn. We should start to right the ship then, and I hope that the lumps that we're taking know will pay off for us later in the year.

LSU was a bad match-up for us. They have a big d-line that could stop our run, and they have very good DB's that could pick off our errant passes. And then it was a road game. I daresay that the only quality teams that we will beat this year are going to be those with a serious flaw on defense. If you can classify those teams as quality.

Since 2000 MSU has been outscored in the series 433-138.
You're right... this series is just crap. ESPECIALLY where it falls in the schedule.
IMO, we need to front-load the schedule with non-conference games +Vandy +KY early. MSU just can't hit 4th gear out of the gate what with facing Auburn and LSU so early in the season. We are not that program yet.

comes from the fact we should have beat LSU last year. LSU has done nothing this year to make you say wow and we were supposed to be improved.

There was nothing Saturday night that showed any improvement and the offensive coaching has left many scratching their heads.

would you want that @LSU game 2 weeks or 1 week before/after playing another recent national championship football program on the road?

The way our schedule is laid out is fine minus the Arkansas game, although I don't know where else we'd play that one either.

This is mostly true but there are plenty on here that would be bitching just as much if we lost by a field goal. Just wait until we lose to the number one team in America in Tuscaloosa.

Hell, the SEC has won the NC 5 times in the last 7 years. Every year we'll play a contender or four in this league. All I'm saying is we can't play Alcorn or UAB earlier? Look at Ole Miss' schedule... everyone was predicting they would start 5-0 headed into Alabama based on their schedule.
Now, would MSU be 5-0 with that schedule? I don't know.

I still have a little patch of wool and am hoping we can top UGA and throttle Alcorn and be 3-2 headed into Houston.

Dream vs. Current (bold is match)

Week 1: Horrible non-conference team/Horrible non-conference team
Week 2: Horrible non-conference team/Auburn
Week 3: Auburn (I don't mind catching them early/LSU
Week 4: Eastern rotating team/Georgia
Week 5: Horrible non-conference team/Horrible non-conference team
Week 6: Arkansas/Average non-conference team
Week 7: Eastern rotating team/Eastern rotating team
Week 8: Horrible non-conference team/Horrible non-conference team
Week 9: Kentucky/Kentucky
Week 10: Bye/Bye
Week 11: LSU/Alabama
Week 12: Alabama/Arkansas
Week 13: Ole Miss/Ole Miss

7 of the 13 weeks are exactly like I would like them in a perfect scenario. I'd rather play Arkansas early and LSU late, but it would take moving the Alabama/LSU game to earlier as well. A schedule like this has us winning 3 of our first 5 games if we are halfway decent, and 4 if we are decent or catch Vandy in the rotation. Auburn is sometimes beatable, and you could catch fire and go 5-0 some years with this schedule.

we looked lost while doing it. Which makes two straight weeks, at least offensively and on special teams, we have looked lost. That ain't a good trait.
